Diaper Awareness Week Bottoms Up Diaper project is an ongoing program, however, the week of September 26th to October 2nd is “Diaper Awareness Week”. Interfaith Council along with Fish and Loaves want to make everyone aware that many families can’t afford the diapers their little ones need. Many of these parents want to work to support their families but they can’t afford the diapers which are required by the day cares. The weekend of October 1st and 2nd, there will be Church members outside Kroger handing out flyers and a box to collect diapers. There will also be a box by Sav-On entrance for collection. We are also collecting coupons, and donations are more than welcome. With the coupons and donations we can order in bulk at a cheaper rate. We do need volunteers on this weekend. A sign up sheet is on the Interfaith board in our hallway. Many thanks to all of you that have made donations already. We hope we have your continued support.
Dr. David L. Wolf, author of The Gift Is You will be speaking at Saint James Monday, Oct.10th at 6:30pm. A light supper will be served.

🎵 🎶 🎶🎵 MUSIC NOTES 🎵🎶🎶 🎵
Choir season is up and running, and it’s never too late to join! We are doing some very exciting music this year, including some great standards by composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Rutter, exciting new pieces by composers Libby Larsen and Benjamin Wegner, and even a Bach Cantata in December, “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland” BWV 61, complete with soloists and orchestra! This is not a year you want to miss! Bell choir will also be doing some exciting work this year as well! Please let me know if you plan to attend! The St. James Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30PM, and the St. James Adult Choir rehearses Thursdays at 7:30PM. All are welcome!
Please consider joining in the music at St. James, we have lots of excellent programming this year. If you have reservations about joining that I can smooth over, or even just want to chat and learn some more about music, I’m always happy to talk! I’m easily reached at music@saintjamesgi.net.
This morning’s musical point of interest: The Beethoven prelude is a very unusual piece of music for Beethoven at this time. The piece does indeed visit every major key, and also explores many of the relative minor keys as well. The piece begins and ends in C Major, and is highly chromatic, hinting at the kind of composition style Beethoven would frequent much later in life.
Stay tuned for upcoming music events in the area:
Friday, Oct. 14 at 2PM: Grosse Ile Musicale features a Woodwind Quintet at Grosse Ile Presbyterian
Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:30PM: Minister of Music Robert Ragoonanan in a piano recital performing the music of David Guion, Henri Dutilleux, and Franz Schubert.
Nov. 12 at 8PM and 13 at 4PM: Berlin Philharmonic in Ann Arbor. Tickets at http://ums.org/performance/berlin-philharmonic/
