Coffee Hour After The 10:00 Service Is Always A Big Success, whether there are just a few leftover cookies or a big feast. Thank you to all who took a turn working the kitchen, bringing refreshments and cleaning up. A special thanks to those who noticed help was needed and stepped in without being asked. Coffee Hour is a great time for meeting old friends and for welcoming new members and visitors. In order keep this tradition going, volunteers are needed each week. Look for the signup list on the table in Galloway Hall. Invite a friend or newcomer to help. Coffee, tea and sugar are provided. Just bring simple refreshments (Kroger cookies will do). There is no “special committee”….Everyone at St. James in on the “committee”!
Check the Coat Racks and take home anything that belongs to your family!
A few notes on caring for our kitchen: Please do NOT leave anything on the stove burners in the kitchen, not even the tea kettles. A plastic container was left sitting on the burners, which luckily were not turned on. In the past we have found that the burners were not completely turned off. Whenever you leave the kitchen, please take a moment to check that all electrical appliances are on OFF. Please be sure to cover any items left in the refrigerator. Feel free to discard anything that is out dated or on the verge of spoiling.
United Thank Offering – UTO – Little Blue Boxes – It is not too late to participate in UTO. Set in a prominent place in your home your little blue box is a reminder to express your gratitude in a concrete way for the many blessings in your life by dropping coins or cash in the box. UTO raises between 2.5 – 3 million dollars each year to support grants, missions and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. Through our prayers and thankful giving we reach out in the world to bring hope and improve lives. Our “ingathering” or box collection will take place on January 22nd. Thank you, Wendy Kiblawi 248-476-0265

On Wednesday evenings the WOW (Women on Wednesday) group meets in members’ homes for book studies. Contact the office for more information on any of these open studies.

OUT THERE WITH OUTREACH: JANUARY 2017
Happy New Year One And All!!! Our first day in 2017 to volunteer at the Spirit of Hope Soup Kitchen will be the third Saturday in January, the 21st!
We will prepare the meal which Sacred Heart will serve. We’ve received a request to make Taco Soup, a big favorite of everyone! We’ll also prepare a garden salad, dinner rolls, and lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches “to go”. A sign-up sheet to join in may be found on our Outreach bulletin board in the hallway.
Sacred Heart did the whole day in December for the Christmas meal; as did we in November for the Thanksgiving meal. The Saint James Youth Groups made their annual Candy Poppers for a Christmas treat for our guests, which resulted in big smiles! The Men’s Group collected coats and clothes which were another “main event” for so many!!! Thank You everyone for all you do! This is the BEST form of the “domino effect” of “paying it forward”!!! God is happy! Hope to see you on the 21st.
Love & Thanks, Amy & Frank Kohair
Please call 734-693-0694 if you have any questions.
