A HOLY MOMENT OF THE WEEK Send yours to goodnews@saintjamesgi.net The morning was cold, but the coffee was hot. Saint James is dedicated to worshiping a God who never fails, even when the heat does!

Holy Water from the River Jordan is available on the resource table across from the main office. Fr. Phil brought enough water back from the Holy Land to fill 190 small bottles so there is certainly one for you. Please take one to remember you have been baptized into Christ Jesus!
We Welcome Ray Stilwell on the organ this morning. Our music minister, Bobby Ragoonanan is in Atlanta for a conduction competition.
Ministry Area Reports Are Due This Monday, January 16 to be included in our parish Annual Report. If you are the leader of any ministry, club, guild, organization, or group, please submit a report on your doings in 2016 to office@saintjamesgi.net

Love To Read? Take Advantage Of Our Book Exchange! There’s a shelf outside the kitchen where we encourage you to bring your old books and pick up new ones.
A Winter Clothing Drive for Men organized by our Men’s group is now in gear. Saint James is collecting warm winter clothing (coats, scarves, sweaters, gloves, mittens and blue jeans) for those less fortunate. A collection box will be located outside the office. Thanks in advance for your usual and abundant generosity. If you have nothing in your closet to donate, you are more than welcome to purchase a new item to donate!
Chapman Elementary in Rockwood is Collecting New & Gently Used shoes to be redistributed through the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations. This helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses to feed, clothe and house their families. A box will be set up for shoe collection through Jan 30th. Please contact Patricia Saavedra (psaavedra31@yahoo.com) with any questions. Thank you!
A Children’s Choir (K-5) meets on Sundays after the 10am service. Talk to Jill Robinson (robinsonjill25@yahoo.com) or Bobby to find out more.
Check the Coat Racks and take home anything that belongs to your family!
A Few Notes On Caring For Our Kitchen: Please do NOT leave anything on the stove burners in the kitchen, not even the tea kettles. A plastic container was left sitting on the burners, which luckily were not turned on. In the past we have found that the burners were not completely turned off. Whenever you leave the kitchen, please take a moment to check that all electrical appliances are on OFF. Please be sure to cover any items left in the refrigerator. Feel free to discard anything that is out dated or on the verge of spoiling.
UTO (United Thank Offering) Ingathering Sunday Jan. 22 Please remember to return your UTO blue boxes next Sunday. Envelopes will also be available for thankful offerings. Checks should be made out to “St. James ECW”. The United Thank Offering addresses compelling human need through grants to projects that alleviate poverty both domestically and internationally. Our “change” can change lives. Thank you for your generosity. Wendy Kiblawi 248-476-0265

On Wednesday evenings the WOW (Women on Wednesday) group meets in members’ homes for book studies. Contact the office for more information on any of these open studies.

OUT THERE WITH OUTREACH: JANUARY 2017
Happy New Year One And All!!! Our first day in 2017 to volunteer at the Spirit of Hope Soup Kitchen will be the third Saturday in January, the 21st!
We will prepare the meal which Sacred Heart will serve. We’ve received a request to make Taco Soup, a big favorite of everyone! We’ll also prepare a garden salad, dinner rolls, and lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches “to go”. A sign-up sheet to join in may be found on our Outreach bulletin board in the hallway.
Sacred Heart did the whole day in December for the Christmas meal; as did we in November for the Thanksgiving meal. The Saint James Youth Groups made their annual Candy Poppers for a Christmas treat for our guests, which resulted in big smiles! The Men’s Group collected coats and clothes which were another “main event” for so many!!! Thank You everyone for all you do! This is the BEST form of the “domino effect” of “paying it forward”!!! God is happy! Hope to see you on the 21st.
Love & Thanks, Amy & Frank Kohair
Please call 734-693-0694 if you have any questions.
