The United Thank Offering (UTO) has been an important ministry of the Episcopal Church since1889, providing a way for members of all ages to give daily thanks to God. The mission of UTO is to distribute funds through grants to individuals and communities in need of financial support in our diocese, our nation and the world. Everyone is encouraged to take home a “little blue box”. Kept in a prominent place, it is a reminder to say a prayer of thanks and drop in coins in gratitude for God’s blessings. Boxes are available across from the office, in Galloway hall and outside the chapel. Your change can change lives. Thank you! Wendy Kiblawi 248-476-0265

🎵 🎶 🎶🎵 MUSIC NOTES 🎵🎶🎶 🎵
Choir and bell choir is up and running! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses at 7:30 on Thursdays.
This morning’s musical point of interest: Two really terrific sacred pieces are on the docket today. The first is the prelude, one of Sibelius’ few forays into sacred music, and really shows off the Finnish composer’s penchant for defying expectation, and is a great example of his personal style of intense chromaticism influenced by the folk music of his homeland. The anthem at 10AM is an old favorite of church choirs everywhere, with a beautiful soaring melody and rousing text.
Upcoming Music Events
September 16, 7:30: Join us in Galloway Hall for Short Pieces by Great Composers: A Piano Recital by Minister of Music Robert Ragoonanan. Featuring Schumann’s Kinderszenen, Bartok’s 15 Hungarian Peasant Songs, C.P.E. Bach’s Fantasia in F-sharp Minor, and Brahms’ Klavierstücke Op. 118.
