FEATURES & ARTICLES

From the treasurer

A few words about a word.  The word is “Capital”.  Please make it clear on every donation whether the cash or check you are giving should go to the regular “Crowley Capital” account or to the once-in-15 years “Capital Renewal Campaign” (or to your regular giving to the General Fund).  There has been confusion among the Counters, as well as some parishioners.  If the word “Capital” throws you off, think of them as the Crowley Fund and the Renewal Fund and leave out the word Capital altogether.  Thanks for all the great support during our sesquicentennial (150th) year.

Curt Crysler

🎵 🎶 🎶  MUSIC NOTES  🎵🎶🎶 🎵

Choir and bell choir is up and running! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses

at 7:30 on Thursdays.

This morning’s musical point of interest: On the organ today we hear music exclusively from the French Romantic period. Listen for the warmth and color of the harmonies, and the inventive ways these composers, particularly Franck, move between distant key areas. The Romantic period was a time of great expansion of the French organ, and a time of increasing musical complexity, which can clearly be heard in these works.

Upcoming Music Events:

May 10, 7PM: Celebrate the Ascension and St. James’ 150th Anniversary with a special evensong service, presenting Charles Villers Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, with soprano Kate Pomrenke and tenor Paul Primeau.

May 19, 7:30PM: Our last music event of the year is going to be a blast, as Kalindi Bellach performs a recital of music by J.S. Bach, Shulamit Ran, and Paul Hindemith.
