Gary Sawnick and Stuart Cartwright prepare to cut rope

An After Glow  of Greens Market will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at 6pm.  It will take place in the Fireplace Room and will have snacks and music.

Men’s Ministry Coat Drive The Men’s Ministry Group is once again sponsoring a Winter Coat and Clothing Drive for the Spirit of Hope community.  Men’s coats and jackets, sweaters, scarves, gloves and mittens are all needed and deeply appreciated.  Bring your donations to Church on Sunday December 15 and 22.  Women’s coats will also be accepted and you are always welcome to purchase something new if you don’t have anything used to donate.  Thanks, as always for your continued support and generosity!

Angel Tree Gifts Are Needed Today. Today, December 8th is our deadline for the Angel Tree presents, as they will be distributed tomorrow, on Monday, December 9th. Forgot to bring it? Contact Erica Benson at ericabenson101@gmail.com or 231-690-9655.

If you Want a Hallway Mailbox please let us know in the office. Email office@saintjamesgi.net or call 734-676-1727. Not everyone wants a mailbox, but we have lots to spare! We’ll be happy to set you up.

Children interested in being in the Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve, (silent or speaking parts), will meet Dec. 15th and Dec. 22nd after the 10 o’clock serve, during coffee hour to rehearse. Please contact Thomas Benson with any questions or to volunteer: thomas.b.benson@gmail.com

CHRISTMAS SERVICES:

Sunday, Dec 22 @ 5 p.m. – Blue Christmas (see below)

Tuesday, Dec 24 @ 4 p.m. – Pageant Service with Communion

Tuesday, Dec 24 @ 11 p.m. – Festival Service with Brass (Carols @ 10:30)

Wednesday, Dec 25 @ 10 a.m. – Christmas Day Service in Chapel

Our Longest Night Service (“Blue Christmas”) will be held in our historic chapel on Sunday, December 22, at 5pm. In the midst of all the high expectation of Christmas cheer people who are mourning feel a lot of pressure. Not in this service. As we mark the longest night of the year, the day of the greatest darkness, we make space for grief and remembrance.

Answering Your Question In a January Sermon  What do you wonder about church, scripture, teaching, liturgy, doctrine, practice, or living the Christian life in this day and age? Send your question to rector@saintjamesgi.net or slide it under Fr. Phil’s church office door and we’ll address your question in a January sermon.

An Online Pledge Card is available now at www.saintjamesgi.net/bless1

A Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry is now ongoing. The blankets and shawls are handmade by women from St. James and are blessed by Fr. Phil. You can take one at any time to give to any loved one, friend, or neighbor. They are located on the top shelf of the coat rack by the main office in gift bags. Please also find the folder where you can write the first name of the recipient and your name, so we don’t all give a shawl to the same person. This is a continuing ministry, so if we run out, be assured more are in the process of being made! If you can knit, crochet, sew, or just tie a knot, and you would like to participate in making them, please contact Sharon

Nursery Care is available every Sunday from 9:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

Church Service Recordings from our 8am service are at saintjamesgi.net under the “Media” tab, and at youtube.com/user/saintjamesgi

First Aid Kits are located throughout the church: 1) On the shelf under the main altar; 2) On the coat rack in the main hall by the office; 3) In the kitchen by the sink; and 4) In the chapel sacristy.

Sunday Bible Study  An open, drop-in Bible study is held every Sunday in the Fireplace Room at 9 a.m. It requires no prep. Try it out this Sunday!

Gluten-Free Wafers are always available at communion. Just ask.

Secretary Office Hours:  Colleen is in the office Tue-Thur 9-2, &  Fri 9-12.

Do You Play An Instrument? Contact our Minister of Music, Jim Johnson. We’d love to have you play a little something in church: music@saintjamesgi.net

Open Office Hours Fr. Phil is available on Tuesday evenings from 4:30 to 6:30 pm for anyone to drop in without an appointment. For a meeting of 40 minutes or more, please call or email to schedule an appointment.
