ICE CREAM SUNDAYS are back! Following our summer 10am services look for the ice cream cart and tasty treats!

THE NANCY & LEE CLARK MEMORIAL GARDEN is nearly complete! Take a moment to stroll the sidewalk behind the chapel to enjoy the new plantings and peaceful atmosphere. Two steps remain: water sealing the building below the soil line and installing irrigation heads.

EAST RIVER CONSTRUCTION is coming. As with West River and Horsemill, we are told that East River (between Manchester and Parkway) and Bellevue will both be ground down and new asphalt will be laid. We do not expect this to affect Sunday Services, but there may be a few weekdays when it is impossible to come to church. We trust the result will be worth the inconvenience.

WEAR JEANS TO CHURCH on Sunday, June 25, for MOVE-THE-MULCH SUNDAY. Also bring rakes, gloves, and anything else that might help. The mulch will be sitting in beds in piles. After church you can pick a pile or two and spruce up the bed with your rake. Thank You!

VBS REGISTRATION IS LIVE! Use the link at www.saintjamesgi.net to register your child for this extraordinary summer program. It’s one of the best things we do at Saint James! With crafts, science, stories, snacks, and singing we’ll have a blast looking at how we can all be “changemakers.” Don’t miss this exciting program held July 24-28 from 9:30-11:30am.

ADULT VBS VOLUNTEERS are needed! Please reach out to Erin Shelton, Ann Peraino, or Fr. Phil to learn more. Register through us or online.

PLEASE PARTNER WITH ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD to facilitate an “Ice Cream Sunday” this summer after a 10am service. It involves doing 3 things: 1) Either before the service or after communion (take communion first), move some ice cream treats from the standup freezer in the middle rummage room into the cooler and the cart standing next to it. 2) Fill up a clear reservoir with ice water in the kitchen and place it on the cart with some paper or plastic cups. 3) Push the cart to the front parking lot at the end of the service and put it all away after 20 minutes or so. This is a HUGE SERVICE to all our members, plus the kids especially love it! Look for the sign-up calendar near the kitchen and thank you!

“INSPIRED” is the name of our next book-group book. The pages for our first meeting can be found photocopied on our resource table. In this book Rachel Held Evans explores Holy Scripture as inspired, challenging, personal, metaphorical and true. Read the Intro through p28 for our first meeting on Thurs, June 22. We meet at 10:30am in the library.

THE NEXT ECW GENERAL MEETING is set for June 18th at 11:15 am after church service.

“OUTDOOR WILDERNESS LIVING” (OWL) IS OFFERING free classes for kids of the congregation 10-17 years of age.  Contact Burdett Milkins 734-790-4942 for more information.

HANDY CRAFTERS UNITE Join us if you have any portable craft and want to share it with others: knitting, embroidery, calligraphy, etc. We’ll focus on our crafts and great fellowship. We meet monthly on the first and third Wednesdays, from 1pm-3pm at 8187 Grays Drive, #B1 in the Grays Village condos. Contact Mary Shelton at 734-215-5113 or mary@mshelton.net to reserve a seat.  Bring your own refreshments. First Meeting: June 7.

SUNDAY SERVICES ARE RECORDED and posted in high quality on YouTube every Sunday afternoon. Check YouTube.com/saintjamesgi

WEEKLY “SAINT’S STORIES” SERVICES are held in the chapel on Wednesdays at 10:15am. An optional potluck lunch follows.

DEDICATE SUNDAY FLOWERS in memory of a loved one, perhaps on the date they died or on their birthday. There are several open dates available on the Flower Chart for 2023 located in the hallway near the office. The recommended
donation is $50, which covers two arrangements used at the 8am and 10am services. Just sign up on the poster and Linda Kurth will contact you to coordinate. Call Linda with questions: 734-675-1506.
