WELCOME BACK, FR. PHIL!

NEED SOMETHING TO DO TONIGHT?   Our own Susan Bell, accompanied by Doug Scott, will be performing at the Concerts on the Commons (corner of Macomb and Meridian) 7:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 20.  Bring a chair and come enjoy Susan’s beautiful voice.  In the event of rain, it will be at the GI Presbyterian Church on Horsemill Rd.

THE THURSDAY BOOK GROUP will resume Thursday, August 24, from 10:30am to noon. For this meeting, please read pages 113-140. It’s a great book! If you haven’t been meeting with us, consider reading the book and joining up for discussion. It’s titled, “Inspired” by Rachel Held Evans

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SING?  Seaway Chorale will be holding easy auditions starting Aug. 29 and going through the 2nd week of Sept.  They will be preparing for their upcoming Christmas Show and would love for you to join them.  Contact Colleen in the St. James Office if you are interested!

THE GROSSE ILE ART ALLIANCE FALL SHOW is looking for local artists to show and sell their work at the VFW on Macomb Street on October 6, 7 & 8. Entry information is on their website at grosseileartalliance.org.

THE GROSSE ILE BOAR’S HEAD FESTIVAL is a community celebration of Christmas with hundreds of parts  for individuals, kids, and families. You get to wear costumes, go to a few rehearsals, and participate in the biggest Christmas Pageant of your life. We have roles for shepherds and kings, attendants, beefeaters, choirs, angels, solos, dancers, and more! Plus, there are behind-the-scenes roles. Sign up at BoarsHeadGi.com/volunteer .

WANT TO ADD AN ANNOUNCEMENT?  Just email  goodnews@saintjamesgi.net with the short paragraph you would like us to print, and we’ll make it happen.

HANDY CRAFTERS UNITE Join us if you have any portable craft and want to share it with others: knitting, embroidery, calligraphy, etc. We’ll focus on our crafts and great fellowship. We meet monthly on the first and third Tuesdays, from 1pm-3pm at 8187 Grays Drive, #B1 in the Grays Village condos. Contact Mary Shelton at 734-215-5113 or mary@mshelton.net to reserve a seat.  Bring your own refreshments.

CAN YOU HELP WITH ICE CREAM SUNDAYS after a 10am service? It involves 3 things: 1) Either before the service or after communion (take communion first), move some ice cream treats from the standup freezer in the middle rummage room into the cooler and the cart standing next to it. 2) Fill up a clear reservoir with ice water in the kitchen and place it on the cart with some paper or plastic cups. 3) Push the cart to the front parking lot at the end of the service and put it all away after 20 minutes or so. This is a HUGE SERVICE to all our members, plus the kids especially love it! Look for the sign-up calendar near the kitchen and thank you!

SUNDAY SERVICES ARE RECORDED and posted in high quality on YouTube every Sunday afternoon. Check YouTube.com/saintjamesgi

WEEKLY “SAINT’S STORIES” SERVICES are held in the chapel on Wednesdays at 10:15am. An optional potluck lunch follows.

DEDICATE SUNDAY FLOWERS in memory of a loved one, perhaps on the date they died or on their birthday.
