SUNDAY SCHOOL starts next Sunday, Sept 17! Various classes for Pre-school through high school will begin after the kids receive communion. Teachers will be in the hallway to welcome your child into class. Classes end at 11:35am, so parents can enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation.
BOAR’S HEAD SIGN-UPS ARE TODAY! Come to Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church any time between 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, to have a quick photograph taken for costume fitting, fill out an interest form, receive a master schedule of rehearsals and, for those who want a speaking part or solo, give a short audition. This event is for EVERYONE who wants to be a part of the Grosse Ile Boar’s Head Festival—even those who have signed up online. The Grosse Ile Boar’s Head Festival happens only once every 4-5 years. Make this year special by participating in Grosse Ile’s most vibrant festival of Christmas!
HEAR THE SAILOR SPEAK: Dawn Riley, widely considered to be the most famous and accomplished woman sailor in the world, will be speaking at GIYC on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 from 6:30-8:30pm. Recently inducted into the Mi Sports Hall of Fame, Dawn is in the National Sailing Hall of Fame and the International America’s Cup Hall of \Fame and is the youngest and only female to be honored by both. She sailed in four America’s Cup races and two Whitbread Round the World races. $25 per adult, $1 for kids. Register at grosseilecommnitysailing.org
PASTORAL CARE MEETING –On Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7:00, there will be a meeting for the Pastoral Care team in the river room/Sunday School Room. The team helps Father Phil with pastoral duties such as visiting the sick, or calling, sending cards as needed, occasional meals when needed, communicating with college students, and prayers for the above. ST. THOMAS LUTHERAN IS CELEBRATING 60 YEARS on Saturday, September 16. There will be food beginning at 1pm, plus an ice cream truck, vendors, a bounce house, some classic cars to check out, face painting, free temporary tattoos, kids’ games, and other yard games for adults. Their entertainment line-up is as follows:

• 2-3:30 — Praise Team
• 3:45-5:30 — Picks & Bows
• 1-3 — Alpacas
• 1-4 — A caricature artist

NEW TABLES! Check out the new 5-foot round tables in Galloway Hall! Thanks to several parishioners’ donations and funds from the whole church we have beautiful new tables in Galloway Hall that will be cozy to sit around. Plus it will be much easier to hear people speaking from across the table! Thank you to everyone for helping make this happen!
THE ALTAR GUILD’S 101ST ANNIVERSARY will be celebrated next week, on Sunday, Sept 17th. For 101 years these faithful men and women have prepared the sanctuary for services of every kind. Thank you one and all!
THE DEDICATION OF THE CLARK GARDEN will be held on Sunday September 24th following the 10am service. Join us in the nook behind the chapel where all the new plantings are to be found.
SHOW AND SELL: THE GROSSE ILE ART ALLIANCE is looking for local artists to show and sell their work at the VFW on Macomb Street on October 6, 7 & 8. Entry information is on their website at grosseileartalliance.org.
THE CHURCH BOOK GROUP has resumed meeting on Thursdays from 10:30am to noon. For this week’s meeting, please read pages 191-Epilogue. It’s a great book, entitled “Inspired” by Rachel Held Evans.
