THANK YOU FOR A GREAT RUMMAGE SALE!

ALL HANDS ON DECK! Putting the church back together after the Rummage Sale takes 50 people a good hour of time. Please come to church on Saturday October 7 at 11:30am for a free lunch followed by a thrilling Rummage Sale cleanup. It’s a situation where you see something that needs to be done and then do it! We especially need younger helpers (kids through 50 year olds). It makes a huge difference having your help! Drop in and help move a table, push a cart, take down a tent, or push a broom. Thank you in advance 👍 👍 👍

FAMOUS NEW YORK SINGER Cree Carrico, who grew up on Grosse Ile, is back to offer a concert this afternoon at GIPC – Sunday, October 8, at 3:00 p.m.

A PETTING ZOO! is coming to Saint James next Sunday, Oct 15, during our pet blessings. GOATS, SHEEP, DUCKS, RABBITS, CHICKS, AND MORE will be available on our front lawn, weather permitting, for children and adults to cuddle and play with. 11am – 12noon Oct 15.

PET BLESSINGS are planned for next Sunday, Oct 15, from 11:15-12noon on our front lawn. Please keep your little friends on a leash.

BOAR’S HEAD TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE and going fast! Find them online at boarsheadgi.com for performances on December 7, 8, 9, 10. The Grosse Ile Boar’s Head Festival is a 400-person community event with full orchestra, an original score, a choir of 40-50, and many moving moments. It begins in a medieval community where the slaying of the boar represents Christ’s victory over sin and death. It then transforms into a full-blown Christmas pageant that envelops you in the story of Christ’s birth. Featuring Mary, Joseph, Herod, Rachel, Kings, Shepherds, Angels and more, this is a once-every-four-years production that you don’t want to miss! Volunteer roles, costumed and behind the scenes, are still available. Sign up at https://bit.ly/bhvolunteer23 and they’ll reach out.

INQUIRER’S CLASSES begin this week, to be held on three consecutive Wednesday evenings – Oct 11, 18, and 25. We’ll meet in the library across from the main office, from 7-8pm. Led by Fr. Phil, come learn about the Church and ask the questions on your mind!

ISLAND ECUMENICAL CONCERTS is pleased to present the 2nd program of the 2023-24 season – the GIPC Band!  This versatile quintet normally plays for worship at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church the third Sunday of the month; for this concert they will perform at St. James Episcopal Church, October 22, 2023 @ 4PM. Featuring Jordan Schug on cello, Dave Martin on guitar, Godfrey Porter on bass, Jason Cassell on drums and Doug Scott on piano, the band covers a wide range of genres from a large variety of composers. The band is joined by Grosse Ile High School’s new band direct – Elise Berner. Elise is a recent graduate of the Michigan State University jazz program. Elise is very excited to get involved with the Grosse Ile community (she’s playing in the Boar’s Head orchestra!) and get her students involved as well. Come out and meet Elise and enjoy an hour of great jazz.
