HAPPY
ANNUAL MEETING DAY!
A PARISH BREAKFAST is planned for TODAY morning at 11:10am!< Come enjoy good food and good connections with fellow parishioners. Our Annual Parish meeting begins after the food is served with the presentation of the Alice Award and Elections. See you there!
THANK YOU, FROM THE INTERFAITH COMMITTEE to everyone that volunteered their time and/or food for our evening at ChristNet. Everything was delicious and ran smoothly. You were greatly appreciated by our 28 guests. Our membership never ceases to amaze me. It truly is a group that demonstrates, “Ask and you shall receive.” Sue Lowery
THE GROSSE ILE QUINTET WILL PERFORM A KID’S CONCERT TODAY, January 28, at 3pm at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church. Musical selections include “Peter and the Wolf” and “Frog and Toad” with narration by Carl Grapentine and Krista Schafer. Admission is free and children will receive both books as part of their introduction to classical music!
THE PEOPLE’S PRAYERS will be offered in a new way between now and Easter. As you enter the worship space you will see a podium with paper on it. Use this paper to write a prayer or a thanksgiving. During the Prayers of the People your name, need, or celebration will be read aloud. We are recruiting a Team to read these prayers. Reach out to Fr. Phil to help.
“THE LIFE OF CHRIST” STARTS THIS WEEK Beginning Saturday, February 3rd at 9:30am in the church library across from the office we will discuss different aspects of Jesus’ life. Pat Zavadil has led this group many times to rave reviews. Come and be a part of this introduction to the life of Jesus Christ. The goal is to open doors that will help you learn who He was and is, so that you may follow Him as well as those who knew Him face to face.
SIGN UP IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE “ACTION BIBLE” BIBLE STUDY for adults planned for Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm in the Church library starting on February 6. The “Action Bible” is the whole Bible presented in a comic book style, allowing you to cover lots of ground in a short period of time with great visuals. Led by Fr. Phil, this study will help you hold the whole Biblical story in your mind at once. Sign-up for the first class on the magnetic bulletin board by the front doors. A handout of the first week’s reading can be found on the Resource Table.
A SUNDAY MORNING 9AM BIBLE STUDY begins on February 11 and will run during the season of Lent this year. Fr. Phil will lead this study in the Fireplace Room from 9:00-9:50 a.m., focusing on the Book of Ephesians. You do not need to know about the Bible to come! Also, you do not need to plan ahead. Each week we will read a full chapter aloud, then discuss what occurs to us. Come when you can!
FIRST COMMUNION CLASSES for children in Second Grade and older will be held in Lent during the first half of the church service. Kids will come in at Communion (and may leave after receiving Communion to go to regular Sunday School). Talk to Nancy Crysler or Fr. Phil for more info.
THE MEN’S BREAKFAST MEETING on this cold and crisp sunny morning definitely warmed the souls! The guys cooked and shared stories and prayed and ate a delicious meal and talked about the coming years calendar and they even cleaned up after. Yes they covered everything from the alpha to the omega! Men put it on your calendars and come join us for the next men’s breakfast in Galloway Hall on Saturday March 9th! I guarantee good company, good coffee, good food, good fellowship, and good service in our favorite holy space!
RECEPTION, REAFFIRMATION, AND CONFIRMATION are led by a bishop in the Episcopal Church. On Saturday, May 11, Bishop Bonnie will be with us for a diocesan service focused on these three things. Phil. He will be offering a short series of preparatory classes.
