GREETINGS ON THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

EASTER FLOWER & MUSIC MEMORIALS are now being accepted. Your gifts honor those who have died and enable us to fill the worship space with lilies and festival brass!

THE MAUNDY THURSDAY VIGIL is an opportunity to take Jesus up on his request, “Could you not watch with me one hour?” Sign up to keep vigil in the chapel for one hour. Each slot has two spots. A lit candle, Holy Communion, and spiritual writings will be with you as you keep watch. Use the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board inside the main doors.

VESTRY OFFICERS were elected this week. Please welcome Laurent Chappuis as our Senior Warden, Peter Jett as our Junior Warden, Julie Kohn as the Secretary of the Vestry, Merri Lewis as our Treasurer, and Renee Herman as our Recording Secretary. It was a great meeting!

FIRST COMMUNIONS will be administered as part of our service on Sunday, April 14. Classes for First Communion are for students 2nd grade and older. They are held during the first ½ of the service in a hallway classroom.

THE SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY of the Book of Ephesians continues this morning in the Fireplace Room from 9:05-9:50am. This is a drop-in study. No prep needed, just come!

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME BEGINS MARCH 10. Spring Forward!

THE OFFICE LABEL MAKER has disappeared! We’re glad you used it, but please bring it back so we can update our vestry mailboxes. Thank you

A SOFTWARE GLITCH caused 2023 Donation Statements to lack information from November and December. We have identified and fixed the issue. New statements will be issues asap!

LENT POTLUCKS AND PROGRAM will be every Weds through Lent. The potluck starts at 6:30pm in Galloway Hall. Come at 6:15pm if you want to join a 15 minute chapel service of Evening Prayer. A program led by Fr. Phil begins at 7:10. Potluck hosts are: ECW-Feb 21;  MEN’S GROUP-Feb 28; CHOIRS-Mar 6;  8 O’CLOCKERS-Mar 13;  VESTRY-Mar 20. Please remember to bring your own place settings! Thank you!

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is the subject of this year’s Lenten Potluck Program with Fr. Phil. This week we look at how you can use AI text-generators like “ChatGPT” to make your life a little easier.

THE RONDO STRING QUARTET will play at the 10am service on the 4th Sunday of Lent, March 10.

SHARE PRAYERS by writing them in the red booklet as you enter the worship space. New items each week will be read
aloud in the service.

CAN YOU READ THE PRAYERS? Fr. Phil is looking for volunteers to read prayers aloud during the 10AM service.

“THE LIFE OF CHRIST” HAS STARTED – Saturdays at 9:30am in the church library across from the office we are discussing different aspects of Jesus’ life. Pat Zavadil has led this group many times to rave reviews. Come and be a part of this introduction to the life of Jesus Christ.

THE ISLAND ECUMENICAL CHOIR will present their Lenten Concert on March 24th at 3pm right here in our Main Sanctuary!

LENT MADNESS IS ON! Who will win the Golden Halo? Each day of Lent features a matchup of two historical saints. On Lentmadness.org you can read about each saint and vote on who is most saintly. Their life stories are very encouraging.

A MEN’S BREAKFAST MEETING is planned for Galloway Hall on Saturday March 2nd .

We continue to need donations that are in “individualized serving containers” as all food item are sent home with students in a backpack.  We are in need of peanut butter and jelly in small size jars, milk in cardboard cartons that do not need to be refrigerated, soup, mac + cheese, cereal boxes, fresh fruit, etc.  Backpacks are assembled Friday morning in the small kitchen for delivery at 10:30 am.  Feel free to contact Mary Ann Danville.
