Many people are wondering which app is the correct app for the AI that Fr. Phil was talking about. There is only one that you want to get, the rest are imposter apps. On your device search for “ChatGPT” and choose the one shown here. On your computer you can open chat.openai.com or gemini.google.com as both work well. Reach out to Fr. Phil if you have any questions! 734-775-7140 or rector@saintjamesgi.net

GREETINGS ON THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

THE ANNUAL ST. PATRICK’S CORNBEEF DINNER is planned for Saturday, March 16!  Tickets are available from Colleen Lough. Tickets $15/Adults, $10/Students, and $50/Family. Reach out to Colleen at (734) 460-3700.

FREE 2024 WALL CALENDARS can be found on the resource table. The top page is December 2023. The rest of the pages are the 2024 months.

ECLIPSE GLASSES for the April 8 Eclipse will be available at Saint James! This is so you can protect your eyes while you get out there and enjoy God’s creation. Beginning March 10 you will find certified and approved eclipse-safe glasses that are Made In America on the Resource Table. Take note: Normal sunglasses are NOT okay for viewing an eclipse. They let in 10-20% sunlight, while eclipse glasses let in 0.00032% or less and are ISO approved. We’re ordering 300 glasses, so please take them, even for extended family & neighborhood kids. We want to protect people’s eyes!

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME begins Mar 10. Spring Forward!

EASTER LILY & MUSIC MEMORIALS are now being accepted. Your gifts honor those who have died and enable us to fill the worship space with Easter Flowers and Festival Brass!

TAKE AN HOUR FOR THE ALL-NIGHT VIGIL on Maundy Thursday. This is when Jesus said, “Could you not watch with me one hour?” Sign up to spend one hour in the chapel on this holy night. Each hour has two spots. We’ll provide warmth, a lit candle, Holy Communion, and spiritual books to join you. Sign up on the sheet on the main office window.

CAN YOU SHARE A MEDITATION ON GOOD FRIDAY as part of the service? The theme of the service will be “The Seven Last Words of Christ”. You would pick one of the last words, pray about what it means to you, and then write a 500-1000 word reflection to be read aloud on Good Friday. Fr. Phil will give you tons of support. Sign up on the sheet on the main office window. Here are Jesus’ last words: 1) “Forgive them, Father! For they know not what they do.” 2) “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” 3) “Woman, here is your son…. Here is your mother.” 4) “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 5) “I thirst.” 6) “It is finished.” 7) “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”

THE SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY on the Book of Ephesians continues this morning in the Fireplace Room from 9:05-9:50am. This is a drop-in study. No prep needed, just come!

IF YOU HAVEN’T GIVEN UP COFFEE FOR LENT then you’ll be pleased to know that a Saint James Coffee Club order will be called in to CoffeeAM on Monday, March 4.  If you use a single-serve pod brewer you will be interested to know that last month a Club member ordered a box of Colombia Supremo ‘La Valle Verde’ single-serve coffee pods and, after brewing her first cup, took a moment to call me to say how much she enjoyed the taste experience with the CoffeeAM coffee, even in a 8 ounce cup. Contact David Hartwell to place an order or with any questions — 313 318-9009 cell / text.  FYI — Coffee Club prices are less than the retail prices on the www.coffeeam.com website.

EUCHRE NIGHT CONTINUES on Monday March 4th in Galloway Hall at 6:30pm. The $5.00 fee goes to the high score players.  $0.25 per euchre so bring your quarters! There will also be a 50/50 raffle available for a fundraiser. Good times are here!  See you there.  If you have any questions, please contact Hanry Fisher at (313) 424-5785.

SOUP’S ON!  Kate and David Hartwell, and other Saint Jamesers have attended a few of these Salvation Army ‘Soup Day’ fundraisers in the past, and have enjoyed them — a lot!  Kate and David will get there at 10 o’clock or so on Tuesday, March 5 to get in line to reserve a table or two.  RSVP to David Hartwell by midnight Monday, March 4 — 313 318-9009 cell /text.  They plan to bring enough red Saint James aprons for all of us to wear!  Meet them there!  After the ‘Soup Day’ doors open at 11:00 a.m. all bets are off for a seat at our table(s)!  Soup’s On!

FIRST COMMUNIONS will happen on Sunday, April 14. Classes for First Communion are for students 2nd grade and older. They are held during the first half of the service in a hallway classroom.

LENT POTLUCKS AND PROGRAM continue this Wednesday. Come at 6:15pm if you want to join a 15 minute chapel service of Evening Prayer. The potluck starts at 6:30pm in Galloway Hall. A program led by Fr. Phil begins at 7:10. Potluck hosts are: CHOIRS-Mar 6;  8 O’CLOCKERS-Mar 13;  VESTRY-Mar 20. Bring your own place settings if desired.
