DON’T FORGET about the Bonfire this Saturday night!  It will go from 6-9pm!  Make sure to bring your chair and anything you would like to drink. Snacks and games will be provided but feel free to bring something to share also if you would like. This will be the last one of the year.  If it decides to rain, It will be rescheduled. Talk to Pete Jett for more information!

COME ENJOY A TRIVIA NIGHT on Monday, November 11th at 7:00 pm IN Galloway Hall. This event is for everyone. We will form teams to answer as many unimportant questions as possible. We will have prizes, beverages and snacks, so grab as many friends as possible and have fun with us.

AN ALL-ISLAND THANKSGIVING SERVICE will be held at 7pm on TUESDAY, November 26 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. It’s a beautiful prayer service where all the island churches come together and give thanks to God for all our blessings. After the service, refreshments will be served while you enjoy friendship and conversation. Offerings collected will go to Christnet.

A CHOIR FOR THE THANKSGIVING SERVICE is being assembled. You don’t need to be a church choir member, just someone who enjoys singing. Rehearsals are at St. Thomas Lutheran at 6:30pm Weds, Nov 20 & Sun, Nov 24.

BOTTLE CAPS are no longer being collected at St James. Thank you for all you do to protect our environment!

DIAPER DRIVE THANKS  We are grateful for all the diaper donations that have been given to help needy families. This is an on-going project. Place donations in the designated basket by the resource table. You can also write a check to “Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church” with “Bottoms Up” in the notation and the will buy bulk diapers at Sam’s Club. Our Interfaith reps are Sue Lowery-734-771-2503, Jennifer Engel 734-552-3587, & Karen Overesch-734-552-3714.

EXTRA HALLOWEEN CANDY can be donated to the church office. We will use it in our ongoing  “Chocolate Ministry” basket behind the Keurig.

HELP WIRE CONES AND BERRIES every Weds after the 10:15 service and lunch. The more the merrier!

ERICA’S ORDAINATION to the diaconate will be Sat, Nov 23 at 11am at the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul. Everyone is invited! She will serve her first Sunday as an ordained deacon at Saint James on November 24.

IT’S COOKIE TIME AGAIN FOR THE INCARCERATED YOUTH!  Sue Anderson will be delivering the cookies to Bob Kirby on November 27. If you can make at least a dozen cookies (without NUTS), please let me know by text or email. Please put the cookies in a disposable container and put my name on the top. You can put them in the  kitchen at St. James before 12:00 on Nov. 27. Love and hugs, Sue Anderson (734) 558-7106 sues389@yahoo.com

A MOM’S CREATIVE FUN NIGHT is planned for the Tuesday of the Greens Market work week, Dec 3. At 5:30pm we’ll provide a dinner. Afterwards, all the creative greens, decorations, glue guns, glitter, cones, berries, and Christmas parphanalia will be available for making fun Christmas decorations for the sale. To learn more contact Chris Robertson.

OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL is working on a KINDNESS program to encourage habits of doing acts of kindness every day. The students have been working on creating a “Kindness Quilt” displayed on the wall in the hallway. They post their act of kindness on a paper patch. We encourage anyone to join us in creating the quilt by adding your own kind deeds! You can find 4”x4” paper squares by the quilt. You may design your patch, write down your act of kindness and write your name or leave it anonymous. St. James can lead the way on kindness 😊

CONFIRMATION THIS YEAR will be held in May of 2025, during our Sunday visit from Bishop Bonnie. Students have already begun preparing for this significant event. As part of their prep the students will be participqaing in a service project. They chose to work with Christnet and Loaves & Fishes. The confirmands currently include Evan Buhl, Isaac Csaki, Paiten Christie, Jackson DePaul, Brandon Dinwiddie, Reid Ferguson, Evelyn Howes, Nathan Howes, Drew Lakatosh, Gavin Mahon, Elliot Paik, Christoper Shelton, Noah Saavedra, and Miles Wilkinson. Please pray that these young people will be touched by the Holy Spirit to receive the truth of Jesus in their hearts.

FOOD DONATIONS put into the food baskets go to kids at schools and our Blessing Box. Thank you for donating regularly.

FOOD DONATIONS FOR OUR BACKPACK PROGRAM are appreciated! Individual serving sizes are best (e.g. juice boxes, milk boxes, Mac & cheese, cereals, Chef Boyardee spaghetti, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and jelly, etc).  There is a drop-off box in the hallway by the office!
