Help Make Holiday Poppers Today Kids, high school youth and parents are invited to help make holiday poppers immediately following the 10am service. Small candy, toilet paper rolls, ribbon and wrapping paper donations are still welcome. These poppers will be shared with the homeless through the Spirit of Hope soup kitchen!
Today Is The Last Day to Order Scrip Many people use scrip cards to buy their Christmas Presents, since it gives 5% or more to the church. Remember that you get a raffle ticket for every $50 in Scrip you order. The list of retailers and order forms are located on the information table. Contact Lynn Blanks at lblanks@wideopenwest.com for further information.
Diagonal Parking Lines Too Tight? The north parking lot has recently been striped diagonally for safety and convenience. Unfortunately many are finding the width of the parking spaces too narrow! Please continue to park diagonally in the North Lot, but disregard the lines, so that the distance between your car and the one next to you is what you feel is an appropriate distance.
Questions for Sermons A January sermon will be dedicated to answering parishioner questions about Scripture, Theology, Doctrine, Social Issues, Worship, History or Tradition. Send your question to rector@saintjamesgi.net or place it in the box by Fr. Phil’s door.

A “Dickens” of a time for our Furry Friends
On Sunday, Dec. 21 at 4pm Saint James will once again host the traditional Christmas “Meet Mr. Dickens” show in our historic chapel, featuring Mark McPherson as the fabled author of “The Christmas Carol.”
There will be music, art, poetry, drama, carol singing, and a chance to say “thanks” to Grosse Ile’s Animal Shelter and its T.A.I.L.S. support group. Adding to the festivities will be Larry Crabtree on the Chapel organ, Barry VanEngelen and Father Phil strumming Yuletide favorites, Bruce Luckock dramatically reading, an “early visit” by Father Christmas (aka Rob Speer), and musical and dramatic fun from the island’s own artist-in-residence, Mike Mullen. Of course there be the “Inimitable” himself, presented by Mark, as the legendary author explains holiday customs and the motivation behind his Christmas classic involving old Mr. Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and of course, those famous ghosts!
A free English Tea will be provided at intermission, as will an exhibition of Mike Mullen’s latest art works, including graphics recently created from his 1891 vintage Victorian printing press. All proceeds via a Free Will Offering at the show will benefit our Island League Shelter. So come out December 21 and have a “Dickens” of a time – fun for everyone – bring the whole family!
Mother and Child
This image, one of 4 paintings in a series by Erica Chappuis, was chosen for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan Christmas Card. All four images were available as cards on sale at the Greens Market, and they quickly sold out! How lucky we are to have such a talented artist in our parish.
SPIRIT OF HOPE SOUP KITCHEN: Dec 20
On Sat. Dec. 20, 2014 St. James volunteers will prepare and serve the “Christmas Meal” alone. We will need Christmas cookies which would be a big treat for the people! Please drop them off to our kitchen or the “magic freezer” before the 20th or bring them with you if you will be coming to help. Disposable, LABELED containers are best. Our Awesome Youth Group will be making Christmas Poppers as their gift to the people! Sign-up sheets are posted on the Outreach bulletin board for 1st crew: cooking, 2nd crew: serving, and Cookie Volunteers. Any questions? Please call Amy 734-693-0694 Thank You ALL from the bottom of our hearts. YOU and GOD make it all possible. You are loved always, Amy & Frank

Inter-Faith Council
In mid-November our community housed and fed 28 homeless people involved in the ChristNet program. The Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church provided the shelter and members of all Grosse Ile churches participated by making and serving food, staffing the program, doing laundry and listening to the needs of our guests. Thank you to all members of St. James who volunteered to help. Your time and loving concern was much appreciated. Thank you also, to all who prayed for our guests and those who served them.
Blessings, Sue and Jane
