The ECW and Saint James donated diapers to Matrix Human Services in Detroit.  Over 3700 diapers were given to new and expectant parents in need at a parenting conference last week!

 

A Grosse Ile Chorale Concert is being held Sunday, March 15th, at 3pm in the sanctuary of the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church.  Free will offering.  A reception will follow.

 

 

bowling fundraiser flyer even smallerA Bowling Fundraiser for Open Book Theatre Company is being held on Sunday March 29th at 12:30. It’s fun for the whole family!  Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for kids ages 3-12 and include 2 games, shoe rental and pizza!  Tickets can be purchased from Libby Dinwiddie or from Krista in the office, or click the photo for more information.

Honor your Loved Ones on Easter Morning with fresh potted lilies and exultant music.  Easter Flower and Music Memorials and Thanksgivings are being accepted now. Names of loved ones will be printed in each Easter Bulletin. Fill out the golden bulletin inserts and return to the office.

It’s time to nominate the ECW Woman of the Year!  If you know a woman in the church involved in supporting many of the ECW events and church activities, please drop her name in the box located in the fireplace room.  We look forward to recognizing the nominee that deserves this year’s honor.  Remember all church women are ECW members regardless of meeting attendance.

easterkids_2015A Children’s EASTER Gathering is being held on Holy Saturday, April 4th, 10:30 am-noon.  Join us for a story, egg hunt, crafts and a light lunch.

Hallelujah Hymns Our next Celebration of Song Hymn Sing will be Sunday, April 19th at 3pm and feature timeless hymns which honor the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Refreshments will follow.

Spring Rummage Sale It may seem a long way off, but it will be here before you know it! Please save your rummage and bring after April 13th.  The sale will be May 1 and 2.

Re-imagining The Household of God The 2015 EDOMI Ministry Fair has been scheduled for May 2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit.  For more information talk to Jim Holubka, 313-389-1833

Fr. Phil’s Open Office Hours are every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm. These are open drop-in hours, so you do not need an appointment. These meetings are usually 30 minutes or less. For a longer meeting call or email ahead to schedule a time.

Join us for a Weekday Eucharist every Wednesday at 10:15am. Wednesdays at 11am join us for “Coffee and Conversation” in Galloway Hall.

An On-going Bible Study is held each Sunday at 9 AM in the Fireplace Room.

Sunday, April 12th around noon to help set up at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church

 

 Monday, April 13th

  • From 7:30 p.m. -12 p.m. to receive and assist guests, assist with dinner, cleanup and staff the warming center.
  • From 11:30 p.m. – 4 a.m. to staff the warming center, and prepare lunches for guests to be distributed after breakfast.
  • From 3:30 a.m. – 8 a.m. to staff warming center, awaken guests, serve breakfast, distribute lunches, cleanup, wash towels.
  • Provide side dishes and dessert for dinner.

 

Sunday, April 19th at 6:30 a.m. to help tear down, pack up, clean or go to the Laundromat to wash bedding. The more who volunteer the quicker the work is done.

 

Christnet, a warming shelter typically comes to Grosse Ile once a year as it rotates around the Downriver Community. To help in a time of need we have agreed to help for an additional week this year, from Sunday, April 12th through April 19th.

 

Approximately 30 homeless people will be served dinner, given a place to sleep, and provided breakfast in the morning. The Grosse Ile Presbyterian church will be housing our guests.  Every island church hosts the event for one night.  This year St. James’ is responsible for Monday night, April 13th.
