Today is Youth Sunday Our children and youth are joining at the 10am service, serving in all the roles of the church.  Thank you, children!

Graduate Recognition Congratulations to Randi Mammo, Kristen Ruta and all of the class of 2015.  Join us after the 10am worship for cake as we celebrate our graduates!

Thank You Christian Ed Staff and Parents!  First of all,  thank you to our parents for bringing your children to church for Sunday School. Even if the children do not realize it now, that is a great gift you are giving them.  Our staff this year includes teachers: Molly Clayton, Esther Hemsworth, Sarah Hemsworth, Patricia Saavedra, and Maria Turner teaching Godly Play to our K-2nd graders. The teaching assistants for that group are: Jennifer Drake, Beth Holliday, Sue Johnson and Brenda Roekle.  Nancy Crysler is the teacher for grades 3-5. Our substitute teacher has been Sue Lowery.  The middle school youth leader is Adrienne Stepaniak and senior high school youth leader is Father Phil.  Thanks to all for your service to our St. James’ kids.  –Nancy Crysler, Christian Education Director

sweet sounds of summerSUMMER CHOIR

Open to All

This summer we will experiment with a “pick-up” choir for the 10am Eucharist. All ages, all voices, all skills: WELCOME!

No rehearsals but there will be a quick warm-up and meeting at 9:15 am in the choir room before the liturgy. When possible we’ll try out some “instant” music and explore some “world” music. Come once, come always, but certainly feel welcome! No vestments or high pressure singing, but an opportunity to sing with the Spirit and assist the people in their joyous song.

We will sing on June 21, 28, skip ALL OF JULY, then begin again on August 2 (OUTDOORS!), ending sometime in the following weeks.

If you can chant “Let’s go Red Wings” or something along those lines, you are fit for service! Come check it out;  you know you want to. We need folks to be curious and see what’s up in the sacred music world. There’s a lot more cool stuff out there than you know. As St. Augustine said “If you want to know what we believe, listen to our songs.”   I would say “if you want to know what we believe, SING our songs.
