Get involved in your community  Island Beautification Committee has a perfect opportunity for those who like to work outside, garden or help earn some additional community service hours! They need extra hands to help with planning, weeding, and maintaining three of Grosse Ile’s Beautiful corners.  If interested please contact Colleen Gimpel at gimpelc@gmail.com

Baby Formula—is being collected for babies at the Heartbeat of Monroe Pregnancy Center for which our own Margaret Horvath  (8:00er) is the director. It has been brought to our attention desperate mothers without enough formula  are diluting it thus diluting the nutrition these children need.  If you are so inclined,  please consider bringing in ENFAMIL formula in the box provided in the hall.  We can help give these babies a good start in life.

Capital Campaign pledge cards are online at saintjamesgi.net/cc150 and on the resource table. Projects begin this Spring!

🎵 🎶 🎶  MUSIC NOTES  🎵🎶🎶 🎵

Choir and bell choir is up and running! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses

at 7:30 on Thursdays.

This morning’s musical point of interest: This morning we hear a lot of music centering around the themes of Jesus’ death and resurrection! The hymns, prelude, choir anthem, and postlude are all pieces based on resurrection texts. At communion at 10:00 we hear music by the late Renaissance composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, who was a prolific composer for the organ.

Upcoming Music Events:

May 10, 7PM: Celebrate the Ascension and St. James’ 150th Anniversary with a special evensong service, presenting Charles Villers Stanford’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, with soprano Kate Pomrenke and tenor Paul Primeau.

May 19, 7:30PM: Our last music event of the year is going to be a blast, as Kalindi Bellach performs a recital of music by J.S. Bach, Shulamit Ran, and Paul Hindemith.
