Outreach: Spirit of Hope Soup Kitchen

Our day of service on March 21st went really well.  We, Saint James, prepared the meal and our partners, Sacred Heart, served.  We split the cost of $400.   The menu included  Hearty Taco Soup with extra veggies, macaroni, and finely shredded cheddar on top, Sliced Pears, Rolls and Butter, with Chocolate Pudding for dessert and Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches to-go rounded out the meal.  This menu is a real favorite!  Sacred Heart also brought packaged Cookies to add to the desserts!  Terri Morreau, the Sacred Heart Leader, told me that appx. 200 people were served and gave “rave reviews”!!  The few things left over were going to be warmed up for a meeting at Spirit of Hope that night!

soup kitchenWe had a great crew consisting of Carl Colwell, Tina Wirtel-Knudsen, Beth & Grace Holliday, Adrienne & Isabel Stepaniak, Sue Johnson and sons Warren & William, the Rudzienski family: Dave, Anne, Jenny & Emma, Lynda & Barry VanEngelen and Frank & myself. Good Work one and all, AND Huge Thanks!!

Our next day of service at Spirit of Hope will be

Saint James will do this day alone; cooking and serving!

The Grosse Ile Fire Department has donated 5 turkeys for this meal!

The three sign up sheets for cooking, serving, and roasting turkeys, are posted on the Outreach Bulletin Board, found between the Godly Play Room and the Choir Practice Room.  This will be a great day to serve with your family and friends… It is a blessing to represent the hands of Christ, as we do what He asked us to do!

With Love & Great Thanks, always.   Amy Kohair 734-693-0694
