The email address is an AOL account that is not affiliated with the church. Whenever you receive such a message you should contact Fr. Phil on his cell phone by voice or by text (at 734-775-7140 — add this to your contacts now) before taking any action. If you received one of these messages and sent money, please let us know so we can discuss next steps.
Churchfest Sunday A church picnic is planned following the 10 am service. Bring a side dish to share and maybe a friend. We’ll also have a bouncy house for the kids. It will be wonderful day of celebration. Mark your calendars!!
Getting Rid Of Old Magazines? Lynn Blanks is requesting any sports, science or music magazines, that you no longer need, be brought to the church for her. Her son is a teacher and has the kids decorate their books with the pictures from them. Please contact Lynn with any questions lblanks@wideopenwest.com
Picture Make Up Day Tuesday, August 28, 2018 will be our picture make up day. If you were not able to get your directory photo taken last weekend this is your last opportunity. Please let Colleen in the office know if you need a time! If you were already on the list to have your photo taken on this date you have had a time given to you. Please let Colleen know if that time will not work for you.
Altar Guild Luncheon Have you been looking for a way to serve at St. James? Members setup and cleanup for each service. Once every 2-3 months Teams of 2 clean brass & silver, etc.. A committee alternates months caring for linens. A three month schedule is made out, but you are always free to switch your assigned date with another member. RSVP to Linda Kurth (675-1506) by September 17. This invitation is for all current members and especially anyone who would like to join Altar Guild!
Tigers Game Men’s Ministries is having a night under the lights! Friday, September 21, 2018 the Tigers play Kansas City, and you too could be there to see it happen! Cost is $40 and a hard count will be taken by Sept. 9, 2018. Prayer Ministry This Summer continues in the chapel. If you would like prayers during communion, come to the back of the church by the red doors that lead to the front parking lot. In that small narthex the prayer minister will be glad to hear your needs and pray with you.
Open Bible Study A drop-in Bible Study runs every Sunday morning from 9:05-9:50AM in the Fireplace Room. The study requires no preparation, and you can come on whatever Sundays are convenient for you. Drop in any time!
Gluten-Free Wafers are always available at communion. Just ask.
Secretary Office Hours: Colleen is in the office Tues-Thurs 9-2, & Fri 9-noon.
Open Office Hours Fr. Phil is available for appointments throughout the week for meetings of any length, but on Tuesday evenings you never need an appointment. Drop in any Tuesday between 4:30-6:30 pm and say hello

Thank You To Everyone who helped make this weeks’ Vacation Bible School a great success. We had 80 children here this week! When you add another 20+ adult leaders you have over 100 people who together sang, prayed, ate, played, and celebrated the glory of God. Well done, one and all!

Choir and bell choir is starting up again very soon! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses at 7:30 on Thursdays. Our first rehearsal is Thursday, September 6
Music Notes: At 8am we hear music by two famous classical-era church composers, whose music tends to be very light. At 10am, enjoy some of the sounds of the 20th century with Debussy, Dello Joio, and Kabalevsky.
