Cindi and Pete Jett enjoyed a month on the road enjoying both peninsulas of Michigan. They even took a little adventure train ride up into the wilderness of Canada.
“That same night while rock hunting we were blessed to experience a spectacular treat from our Creator as the northern lights put on a show that we’ll never forget”
“We were treated to so many beautiful sights, in particular in the U.P. at the Calumet Waterworks Beach we were rock hunting after dark with special UV flashlights and we found a handful of “Yooperlite”, stones, these contain a mineral called sodalite that glows bright orange when illuminated under UV light.”
“Cindi and I also enjoyed plenty of peaceful moments together absorbing the natural beauty of the lake Superior shoreline on the many beaches, this one at the remote village of Grand Marais.
“We hope that others get the chance to take in all of the blessings that our beautiful state has to offer. We have come back refreshed rejuvenated and re-created, happy to be reunited with our St. James family. 🙂”  -Pete
Dear Friends,

I am thrilled to share the news with you that we have invited Kevin Cischke to join Saint James as our new Minister of Music and he has accepted!

Kevin is a man of diverse talents and deep spirituality. He has advanced degrees in Organ and Nursing. He has deep roots in choral singing and liturgical worship. Beyond that, he is kind and engaging and loves leading handbell choirs. (Not to mention his references were stellar!)

Kevin will officially join our team in the first week of September, right after we have thoroughly celebrated Jim Johnson’s retirement on Sunday, September 1st, at a special coffee hour following the 10am service. (Please be there and consider contributing to his purse!)

Since Kevin works as a full time nurse he will be found on our organs and in our halls after the work day is over, particularly on the day of our choirs’ rehearsals, which is currently Thursday.

I hope you will reach out generously to him and welcome him warmly <durufle@gmail.com>. Our instruments and our patterns of liturgy are particular to us and new to Kevin, so please allow him some time to become completely familiar with our ways. On behalf of the Search Committee I can tell you that, in Kevin, God has delivered on his promise to take care of his people at this little-brown-church-by-the-river. Thank God for his never failing faithfulness!

With A Great Hurrah,
Phil+
