GI PAY BRIDGE BOND PROPOSAL – An info meeting will be held on Weds, Oct 9 @ 6 PM in the Township Hall on Groh Rd. Information is also on the Township website.

FRESH ROASTED COFFEE ANYONE? Coffee is over 98% water, so the quality of the water and the fressness of the coffee is important. If you decide that you would like to try an 8oz or 16oz bag of fresh roasted CoffeeAM coffee next weekend, be sure to let David Hartwell know before Monday at noon on October 7. FYI – coffee club members pay 25% less than the posted price for most of the coffees on CoffeeAM.com. 313-318-9009 phone/text

THE HILARIOUS CLASSIC PLAY, “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” featuring our own Paul Primeau, is currently playing at 12671 Dix Toledo Rd in Southgate. When a dinner guest overstays his welcome, chaos and laughter ensue in this timeless production. Showtimes are October 12, 18, & 19 @ 7:30 PM, and October 13 @ 2:30 PM. Grab your tickets before they’re gone—this is one dinner you won’t want to miss! www.scponstage.com

OUR BLESSING BOX self-service food pantry is used most days. Please bring food items to church or whenever you can. All food donations go directly to people in need. Thank you to all of our Blessing Box Caregivers—your work is working!

NOW TAKING “KRINGLE” ORDERS for the Saint James Men’s Group fundraiser. A Kringle is a delicious tire-shaped pastry that comes in many flavors and is perfect for sharing. The Men’s Group is receiving orders through the end of October, so the freshly baked pastries can arrive on our doorstep, just in time for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah celebrations, or for any occasion.  This year 6 flavor choices are being offered, including ALMOND, RASPBERRY CHEESECAKE, PECAN, APPLE CINNAMON, CHERRY, AND RASPBERRY. The price is $12 each, the same as last year.  Reach out to any of the following Men’s Group members — David Hartwell, Henry Fisher, Pete Jett, Burdett Milkins, and Joe Engle.  Their contact information can be found in the new church directory.  What are your favorite Kringle flavors?!

HANDBELLS ARE FUN and a great way to do something creative with a great group of people. New ringers are very much in need!  It’s a lot of fun and Kevin will train you! Please reach out to him for more information or drop in on a rehearsal any Tuesday at 6:30pm in the main church.

BELL CHOIR AND VOCAL CHOIR are welcoming newcomers. Do you like to sing? Do you enjoy making music? Show up on Tuesdays at 6:30pm for handbells or 7:30pm for singers. Reach out to Kevin Cishke on Sunday morning to find out more.

THE GROSSE ILE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE our annual fall fundraiser, The Monster Bash, a Halloween-themed adult costume party.  The “terrifying night of food, dancing, fun and auctions” will be held at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club on October 12, 2024, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.  Entertainment will be provided by the Killer Flamingos. Sponsorships and ticket information can be found on our website,  https://gieducationalfoundation.org/ Your attendance and  “monsterous” support at past fundraisers have allowed our nonprofit to provide opportunities to promote excellence and innovation in our mission, supporting both our Grosse Ile Township Schools and our Community, as a whole.  Since 1995, the GIEF has awarded over $1.8 million in grants. If you have any questions, please contact GIEF Treasurer, Andrea Stevenson at 734-775-3892

PET BLESSINGS are coming soon! Keep your eyes on this spot!

HAVE YOU HEARD OF VELCRO DARTS?  The Saint James Men’s Group is bringing a kinder, gentler version of “dartball” to Saint James this fall called “velcro dartball”. Go to the internet and take a look at “velcro dartball”, and then, if you want to RSVP yes to the Men’s Group invitation and sign up for Team Saint James, have “your people” let “our people” know! David Hartwell 313-318-9009 cell / text

FOOD DONATIONS FOR OUR BACKPACK PROGRAM are appreciated! Individual serving sizes are best (e.g. juice boxes, milk boxes, Mac & cheese, cereals, Chef Boyardee spaghetti, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and jelly, etc). Please contact Mary Ann Danville if you have any questions. There is a drop-off box in the hallway by the office!

FREE COVID TESTS are available from the government once again. Every household can receive a free kit with 4 tests. Go do COVID.gov/tests and you will see instructions. Shipping is free too.

IF POLITICAL TEXTS are flooding your phone, a recent article I read says to reply STOP to the text, exactly that way: all caps and only the word STOP. I have tried it and it works! -Fr Phil
