Attention Coffee Lovers: The CBCBC, Coffee Bean Collective Buying Club, will not be placing an order with CoffeeAM the day after this Sunday, February 1, but rather the day after next Sunday, February 8. An announcement should have been submitted for last week’s Good News Weekly, but Beautiful Hymns of Old was occupying all my time. For the remainder of the year I would like to get back to placing our coffee order the way we did last year, the day after the first Sunday of the month. This will allow all CBCBC members — there is no charge to join — to be able to plan their coffee drinking for the month. Any questions? Email dhartwell4@yahoo.com or call 313 318-9009. An operator — Dave Hartwell — will be standing by to take your call!!!
Men’s Breakfast will be Saturday, February 14th at 8:30 am at Mom’s Restaurant on Fort Street in Trenton. Join us if you’re able, and bring a friend! We’ll be discussing this year’s boat cruise.
Boat Cruise- Mark Your Calendars! June 6th at 7pm. Look for more details as we get closer.

Baked Potato Fundraiser
February 8th
Dear Saint James Family,
On Sunday, February 8th we will be holding a “Baked Potato Coffee Hour” as a freewill donation fund raiser to help one of our families. Jennifer and Matt Drake are in the process of obtaining the guardianship of an 11 year old boy (a distant cousin from Nevada) who will soon be joining their family. Funds raised from this special coffee hour will be used to help with the travel and legal expenses which are being incurred. Jennifer may not be at the coffee hour as she may be on her way to Nevada for this purpose. The “Baked Potato Coffee Hour” will consist of a baked potato bar with all the fixings for a yummy breakfast! Any offerings will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your special Saint James love and prayers.
February 7th at 7pm
Popcorn and refreshments will be served.
Make it a date night or bring your friends!

Beautiful Hymns of Old
What a celebration of song it was. On Sunday afternoon, January 25, Beautiful Hymns of Old was presented at Saint James Episcopal Church. This was the first in a series of Celebration of Song music programs that Saint James will offer in 2015. It featured organ accompaniment for sixteen hymns that were sung by the more than one hundred who were in attendance. At this free community hymn sing old memories became new memories and emotions were stirred as one hymn after another was sung. The more than one hundred voices became one voice and the richness of that one voice was very special indeed. What a joyful noise we made together!
Our thanks to all of you who were able to attend and to those of you who were able to remain afterward to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and conversation. Be watching for details about the next Beautiful Hymns of Old. If you would like to be added to our Celebration of Song mailing or call list please email the hymn sing email address at celebrationofsong@gmail.com or call 313 318-9009.
Pickleball anyone?
Pickleball is a game played all across the country as well as here on Grosse Ile at Parke Lane Elementary School during the winter, and Water’s Edge during the summer. It combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is an easy game to learn that is not physically challenging to play. Consider stopping in at Parke Lane one Tuesday or Thursday evening between 6 and 8 PM to watch some games of Pickleball or learn more online at http://www.usapa.org/what-is-pickleball/. If you should decide you would like to play you do not have to buy anything because paddles and balls are freely provided. Don’t forget to wear your gym shoes!!! The court cost to play is only $3.00 for two hours.
Join our Pickleball team! Look for a sign up sheet on the bulletin board by the church entrance. Can you think of a good name for our new Saint James Pickleball team? There will be room on the sign up sheet for your name as well as team name suggestion(s). Talk to Dave Hartwell for more information.
