HAPPY
FIRST DAY OF LENT!

THE SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY< of the Book of Ephesians continues this morning in the Fireplace Room from 9:05-9:50am. This is a drop-in study. No prep needed, just come!

LENT POTLUCKS AND PROGRAM begin this week on Wednesday, February 21. The potluck starts at 6:30pm in Galloway Hall. Come at 6:15pm if you want to join a 15 minute chapel service of Evening Prayer. A program led by Fr. Phil begins at 7:10. Potluck hosts are: ECW-Feb 21;  MEN’S GROUP-Feb 28; CHOIRS-Mar 6;  8 O’CLOCKERS-Mar 13;  VESTRY-Mar 20.  Thank you!

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is the subject of this year’s Lenten Potluck Program with Fr. Phil. He will explain what A.I. is, how it works, and why it’s suddenly a big deal. In these sessions you will learn how NOT to be fooled by AI. Program topics will include AI text-generators like “ChatGPT”, AI photo-generators like “MidJourney”, and AI audio and video generators that are threatening to upend news and elections. Most importantly, he will teach you how to use AI to make your life better – you can do it!

AN ECW GENERAL MEETING is planned for today, February 18, at 11:15 a.m. in the Fireplace Room. All women are invited to attend.

A GREENS MARKET overview meeting is planned for Tues, Feb. 20, at 10am.

FIRST COMMUNION CLASSES start today at the beginning of service, in a classroom down the hall with Nancy Crysler. Kids rejoin us at the Peace.

THE SACRED HEART FOOD PANTRY is an island-wide ministry that all churches contribute to. Place shelf-stable & nourishing food items in the labeled basket by the Resource Table and we’ll get them to Sacred Heart.

EUCHRE – St. James is the place to be, not only for the worship experience on Sundays, but for the euchre play every other Monday night. February 19 and March 4 are the next two “play dates”!  All levels of experience are welcome.  There will be tables for experienced players as well as for those players who want to brush up on the way the game is played, or who have never played euchre before but would like to learn.  If “you’ve got game” be sure to come play cards with us on the 19th and on the 4th!  Call or text Henry Fisher for more details.  313 424-5785

THE RONDO STRING QUARTET will play at the 10am service on the 4th Sunday of Lent, on March 10.

SHARE PRAYERS by writing them in the red booklet as you enter the worship space. New items each week will be read aloud in the service.

CAN YOU READ THE PRAYERS? Fr. Phil is looking for volunteers to read prayers aloud during the 10AM service.

“THE LIFE OF CHRIST” HAS STARTED – Saturdays at 9:30am in the church library across from the office we are discussing different aspects of Jesus’ life. Pat Zavadil has led this group many times to rave reviews. Come and be a part of this introduction to the life of Jesus Christ.

THE ISLAND ECUMENICAL CHOIR will present their Lenten Concert on March 24th at 3pm right here in our Main Sanctuary!

LENT MADNESS IS ON! Who will win the Golden Halo? Each day of Lent features a matchup of two historical saints. On Lentmadness.org you can read about each saint and vote on who is most saintly. Their life stories are very encouraging.
