A HOLY MOMENT OF THE WEEK

Send yours to goodnews@saintjamesgi.net

Coffee and Converstion Crew on Wednesday Mornings!  Come see what it’s about. Mornign service starts at 10:15, and bring a dish to pass.

This Morning We Welcome   Rev. Sally Boelter to our celebration at St. James.

Fr. Phil Will Return From Sabbatical on Sunday, March 3. Please continue to pray for him and for all the lay leaders of Saint James.

ECW All Day Retreat  will be held on March 2, 2019 from 9-3pm.   It will be led by Sister Betty. There will be lunch provided.  The message for the retreat is “Create In Me A Clean Heart, O God”.  Please rsvp to Colleen Lough or Erica Benson if you plan to attend.

This Wednesday, February 27, following coffee and conversation at 11:30 A.M. the ECW will be doing an outreach project. We hope many of you will come to help us make Sani-pads so young girls in parts of Africa can attend school when they reach puberty. Attendance rate at school drops by 20 percent and many drop out when the menstrual cycle starts for lack of Sani pads. Come prepared with your fabric scissors and also if you can, a sewing machine. We would welcome any donation of soft baby flannel and terry material (think towels) for this project. The ECW can be a small part of the team to assist young girls to complete their education.

Please let Collie know if you have any soft flannel or terry cloth donations. 671-1831 or colliehy@comcast.net  SEE YOU WEDNESDAY!!!!!

Bake Lenten Communion Bread   We need volunteers to help us bake the communion bread used at the 8AM and 10AM services of Holy Eucharist. We can provide a recipe, or you can use one of your own. Bread should be dropped off in the main kitchen on Saturday morning by 10AM. Please contact Colleen in the office if you can help: office@saintjamesgi.net or 734-676-1727.

WISH LIST

Send your write-ups about parish events to  goodnews@saintjamesgi.net

  1. Do you have a “decent recent” computer you could donate to our new Minister of Music? Contact Jim at music@saintjamesgi.net

  1. If you have spent any time in our main kitchen, you probably know that our cutlery situation is not the best.  We are down to about 60 forks, which isn’t enough for a large gathering.

We have been to a restaurant supply company and have chosen a pattern that we feel works well in Galloway Hall.

We are hoping that parishioners might offer donations to purchase one or two dozen pieces at the following prices.

Forks – $18.75 per dozen

Knives – $27.00 per dozen

Spoons – $14.00 per dozen

We are hoping to purchase at least 12 dozen of each piece.

Contact the office, or Lynda VanEngelen at 734-671-5735, if you can help out!

SPIRIT OF HOPE;  OUT THERE WITH OUTREACH

On Saturday March 16th, Sacred Heart will do the whole day at Spirit of Hope.  🍀We will have the day off.

On Saturday April 20th we will do the whole day at Spirit of Hope.  This will be the Easter Meal with Easter Sunday actually being the next day!  Your help will be greatly appreciated!  Sign-up sheets for this special meal are posted on the Soup Kitchen/Outreach bulletin board between the Sunday School room and the Choir practice room.  What a lovely way to thank Christ for His great love and sacrifice for us.  Sharon Metz is making sugar cookies!  Sharron thought it would be nice too for us to make hard boiled & dyed Easter Eggs which were a big hit in the past!!  Patricia Saavedra & Family have already volunteered!  I will post a sheet for more Easter Egg volunteers.  If we have tons, I can turn the spares into Deviled Eggs!  Dave & Judy Christie are donating hams for the meal!!!

Here’s another thought… If you see children’s books celebrating Easter, please pick one up for the young kids who will come for the meal at Spirit of Hope.  They get really excited about choosing and getting to keep books!  I will put a basket under the Sign-Up Bulletin Board for the Easter Books (smiles between pages).      Our Easter Saturday Meal will be a day of treats and celebration thanks to YOU!  🌼🐇🌸

With LOVE, Amy & Frank

We ask your continued prayers for Dear Norm, He is the sextant and the person who has been in charge of security and so much more, at Spirit of Hope for many years.  He has also been in charge of the animals on their urban farm.  We always knew how much Norm was responsible for at Spirit of Hope but when someone is suddenly gone, who did so much without making a show of it, you realize exactly how important they were!  Norm is that person.  His health continues to be poor and it is not expected that he will be back on the job.  Please pray for Norm’s peace, comfort, resolve, and that he not feel pain.  Pray that he remembers God’s love for him as well as ours…  Thank you dear friends, always, with love, Amy & Frank Kohair
