Do You Share Your Life With A Pet?  Last fall All God’s Creatures were featured in The Good News Weekly announcement about the Blessing of the Animals.  In honor of their place in your heart and in your home please help us create a photo directory of All God’s Creatures at Saint James.  Bring a photo of your pet to church and post it on the Fellowship bulletin board.  Along with the photo please include your pet’s name, as well as your name.  We look forward to getting to know you and your pet better.

A Weekday Eucharist focused on the life of a saint is held every Wed. at 10:15am.

Home Remedies For The Common Cold as well as for cough, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, and postnasal drip symptoms are being posted on a church bulletin board for your enjoyment.  On a sheet of paper write down your favorite home remedies, sign them if you like, and then bring them to Saint James and post them. Check to see what others have posted.  Hot toddy home remedies that include alcohol (for medicinal purposes!) are perfectly acceptable.  – David Hartwell

Soup Kitchen Volunteers will next be needed on Sat. April 16th, when we will do that whole day alone: cooking and serving. We have February and March off. Sign-up sheets are on our bulletin board in the hallway near the “Godly Play” East River Room.  For more information talk to Amy & Frank Kohair  734-693-0694

Coffee and Fellowship follow the 10am Service every Sunday in Galloway Hall. Volunteers are always needed to host.  If you are not able to host a coffee hour but would like to contribute something we can always use packaged cookies or anything that can be frozen and used when there is no volunteer for a particular Sunday. Talk to Joan Hemsworth if you have any questions (734-675-8191).

Fr. Phil’s Open Office Hours are every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm.

Annual Meeting: January 31st

A Significant Agenda Item for our annual meeting will be a diocese-required vote to resolve a property-encroachment issue with our neighbors to the north, by providing a limited and revocable license to them. This solution has been arrived at through discussions with the neighbors, the diocese, the surveyor, the vestry and parishioner Carl Colwell, who is an attorney. A full explanation, maps, and time for questions and answers will be provided at the annual meeting. Speak to a member of the vestry or Fr. Phil to learn more.

The Heart’s Journey Through the Seasons: WINTER

Planet Viewing

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn can be seen simultaneously before dawn.  They are visible 80 minutes before sunrise in the sky from southeast to southwest and will remain visible in the pre-dawn sky to February 20, 2016.  Of course, you can catch most of these planets long before dawn. Jupiter rises first, in the evening hours, followed by Mars after midnight and then Saturn, Venus and Mercury.  Enjoy skywatching and the following earthsky.org link.

 MUSIC NOTES
A Weekly Series by Daniel Susan, our Minister of Music

The Ecumenical Community of Taizé, France, has become both a powerful and popular place of pilgrimage for the young for the last 50 years. The music that evolved to meet the needs of the thousands of visitors each week, speaking as many as thirty different languages, has swept through the worldwide Church and we will hear a lesser known short response that mirrors Sunday’s second reading. Look up Taizé (pronounced: teh-ZAY) online to read an an amazing story of the ministry of reconciliation that has so attracted young people. Crossing the channel, a distinctly English art-form is “change-ringing” in which large tower bells are rung in ever-changing order (look up “change-ringing” online). Handbells were first created to allow ringers to practice these changes without incurring the wrath of the neighboring countryside! They make a festive addition to any occasion and often accompany our departure from worship. Take a moment to feel the joyous vibrations that send us out into the world.  At communion two short works by my late mother-in-law will be offered. Thank a bell ringer! BECOME a bell ringer.

Offering Envelopes are available. You can request envelopes by filling out a form (found on the table in the hallway outside the Treasurer’s office door) or simply contact the main office.  Envelopes are not dated so can be used any time.  Once your request is received you will be assigned a box and number.  Using numbered offering envelopes helps ensure your contributions are counted for tax deduction purposes, streamlines the process for our counters each week, and is an at-home reminder of this important aspect of worship.
