Cookout and Music a Wonderful Event!

This past Sunday evening, our parish family came together to enjoy a picnic supper and a marvelous music concert.  The Men’s Ministry Group coordinated the meal and wishes to express thanks to Dave and Judy Christie for their generous donation of burgers, brats and dogs.  Special thanks as well to Curt Chrysler and Dave Christie for manning the grills and to all who brought their very best side dishes that rounded out the meal.  Our Minister of Music and some of Bobby’s musician friends provided beautiful classical pieces for our enjoyment.  Emma Rankine performed a beautiful cello solo and the music program was enhanced by several parishioners playing more current offerings.  The entire evening was a great celebration of the wonderful community we have built here at Saint James and it was an opportunity to appreciate the gifts and  talents of our Minister of Music.  Thanks again Bobby, for  all the ways you enhance our liturgy and lives!

Hands… touching hands…. Singing along at the cookout & music event!

 🎵 🎶 🎶🎵  MUSIC NOTES  🎵🎶🎶 🎵

Join us this summer for the Summer Music Listener’s Group! Meeting 2 evenings a month during June, July, and August, this group will explore the pantheon of church music over the centuries through lectures and listening sessions. Please join us, all are welcome!

The August events will be held August 3rd and 10th at 7:30PM.

This morning’s musical point of interest: Many thanks to Nancy Gruits, who is a fine duet partner on the oboe! It is always nice to change things up during a church service and work with other musicians. This morning we hear Renaissance and Baroque music from all over Europe, arranged for oboe duet.

 Upcoming Music Events

August 19, 7:30PM: Our music series begins again, with a passionate program of the music of Robert and Clara Schumann! Soprano Anna Valcour and Tenor Braun Oldenkamp will perform Robert Schumann’s Liederkreis and Gedichte aus Liebesfrühling, and Clara Schumann’s Sechs Lieder.
