HOLY MOMENTS OF THE WEEK
Send yours to GoodNews@SaintJamesGi.net
The sun falls on one chair at the same time the Sunday church bells ring.
These wonderful folks baked cookies this past Saturday at the Ronald McDonald house in Ann Arbor. These treats will be on hand for families that stay at the house while their children with cancer receive treatment at U of M hospital.
A heartfelt thank you to the ECW for deep cleaning the blue chairs to make them look like new!

Happy 4th of July!

COVID IS BACK ON THE RISE so please monitor your health and stay home if you feel ill. This variant is supposedly super-catchy and very unpleasant. If you get COVID we recommend you visit the doctor, as there are medications that may shorten your illness if taken early enough.

THE CHURCH STAFF WILL BE AWAY next Thursday for a staff retreat. That means the office will be closed on July 11.

LOTS MORE NEWS ABOUT GENERAL CONVENTION can be found at https://shorturl.at/UalAF

VBS REGISTRATION for kids is now available at saintjamesgi.net

PLEASE THANK JIM JOHNSON for his outstanding 6 years of service among us. He has announced his retirement effective this September. We are actively searching for our next Minister of Music, please keep our next staff person in your prayers!

WHAT IS A BLESSING BOX? Keep your eyes on this space because Saint James is going to have a Blessing Box very soon, and you will be so proud!

THE NEW ASPHALT IS STILL SOFT! If you twist your steering wheel while standing still you can grind holes into the new parking lot. Yikes! Please try to get your car moving before turning your wheel. Thank youu

SEERSUCKER SUNDAY WAS SO “COOL” that there will be do-overs every Sunday in July — maybe in August too!  Summer sales for seersucker have begun, and thrift stores and Salvation Army and Goodwill stores may have just what you want, and at great prices!  If you don’t have any seersucker by Sunday, wear something else that you feel comfortable in, and celebrate with those of us who are wearing seersucker!

COFFEE CLUB ORDERS will be placed tomorrow, July 8.  If you’re interested in buying coffee contact David Hartwell.

ERICA BENSON, our seminarian, will be preaching at Saint James on Sunday, July 21. She has just received |Candidacy”, which means she is on track to be ordained as a deacon this November or December and ordained as a priest next May or June. Congratulations Erica!

REGISTER TODAY FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (JULY 29-AUGUST 2) at www.SaintJamesGi.net  Adults, we need your help! It’s just two hours a morning. Send an email to vbs@saintjamesgi.net or reach out to Erin Shelton, our VBS volunteer coordinator. The week’s theme is Operation Restoration. It will consider all the ways we can help restore things, including in the natural world and in the Bible!

SIGN UP TO HOST THE ICE CREAM CART just inside the main entry way on the magnetic board. You can load up the cooler before church and push it out to the sidewalk. After church when everyone has their ice cream you would push it back in and put the ice cream
away.

OUR ANNUAL FINANCIAL AUDIT will be slightly delayed due to an unexpected surgery for Charlotte.  She will be fine, but would like everyone to know it will start as soon as she is up and about.  She has a few people who have volunteered to help but the more that help the faster it goes.  Let us know if you would like to help out!  No experience necessary!

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FUN TO DO?   Every Sunday night at 7pm there will be a free concert on the commons until the end of August. End your weekend with wonderful music!

BOOK GROUP resumes in mid-July.

HELP WITH BRASS – Have you ever thought of working behind-the-scenes to make things shine? Then brass duty is for you. We are in need of some help in that department. You never have to work alone, it’s Two Thursdays in a row, every few months.(Just a couple hours). If you’re interested in helping Saint James look their best, please notify Diane Mammo or Gwen Douglas and we will get you on the schedule. Training is provided. Thank you in advance.
