Lynda VanEngelen passes the cross to the new ECW President, MaryLou Cartwright.
We Move To The Chapel for our 10am service beginning next Sunday, June 19. On September 4th our 10am service will return to the main sanctuary.
We Give Thanks This Morning for the music ministry of our choirs, and especially Daniel Susan, as today is his last day with us. Join us in Galloway Hall after the 10am service to say goodbye and wish him Godspeed. If you would like to contribute to a purse, please clearly mark an envelope with “Daniel Susan Purse” and include cash or a check made out to Saint James’ Episcopal Church. Place the envelope in the box outside the treasurer’s office in the main hallway or in the box inside the office door. Gifts will be combined and sent as a single gift of thanks later this month.
Today Is The Last Day Of Sunday School until Fall. Thank you parents for bringing your children to learn more about God’s word. We would like to give thanks and recognition to our teachers: Sarah Hemsworth, Sue Johnson, Patricia Saavedra, Maria Turner and Nancy Crysler and assistants: Beth Holliday, Jessica Roekle, Brenda Roekle and Jennifer Drake. Patricia Saavedra also chaired the Children’s Halloween Party and Easter Party with her team and Libby Dinwiddie chaired the Green’s Market Kid’s Angel Night. It takes a village to raise up the younger generation of believers as we promised when these children were baptized here at St. James. Thank you all!
A Short ECW Meeting is being held today following Daniel’s reception. We will finalize the plans for the marker for our founder Lisette’s gravesite.
Graduate Recognition Sunday is planned for next Sunday, June 19th. Please let the office know if you are graduating (from anything!) so we can include you.
We Are Pleased to Pray for the Men and Women serving in our military, but fear our list may have fallen out of date. Please take the time to let the office know of your friends and family currently serving in the military. We will refresh our list in September, and remove any names we haven’t had confirmed by then (new names given to us will be added immediately!)
Thank You For Your Prayers for Jackson Bruce Beidler. Great-great aunt Julie Kohn reports he is progressing well, having even rolled over at 4 months, reaching regular growth milestones. Thankfully he was not born with a “brain tumor” as was previously noted, but with brain trauma, which appears to be healing.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the first week in August: mark your calendars, kids and team! This year’s theme takes us back to the first VBS of memory at Saint James 30 plus years ago: Old Testament Times. We will be needing about 4 tents to place on the front lawn. If anyone would be willing to loan one, please contact Nancy Crysler. Also, there will be a sign up on the Kid’s bulletin board near the restrooms for VBS jobs or contact Nancy. It is always a special week where all ages get together to make memories for our young ones. If you haven’t seen Fr. Phil in action at VBS, be prepared to be entertained!
A Memorial Service for Judy (Barbier) Hitter will be held in the chapel on Saturday, June 18th at 10:30am.

Learn a little bit more about this coffee and this country by visiting http://www.coffeeam.com/tanpeab.html.
The Staff At The St. Frances Cabrini Free Clinic extend heartfelt thanks to everyone at Saint James for the donation of prescription bottles. Our bottles filled an entire 13 gallon size bag! The clinic has recently learned that they will be forced to endure budget cuts so our bottle donations are definitely appreciated and our bottle drive will continue. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Andy June or visit Cabrini’s website at www.cabriniclinic.org
Beginner’s Belly Dance Continues to run on Wednesdays at 7pm.

We’re Updating Our Picture Directory Send corrections or a new/updated picture to office@saintjamesgi.net. Look for the new version in the fall. If you don’t have a current version you can pick one up on the table outside the office.
Holy Moments Happen Around Us Every Day – a quiet moment at home between a parent and child, an evening of boisterous laughter with friends and family, or an encounter with God’s beautiful creation. We encourage you to open your hearts and minds to see the holiness in every day. And when you capture a holy moment on film (or rather, digitally!) send it to goodnews@gmail.com. We’ll share them here to inspire others to see the holy in every moment.
We Continue To Collect Diapers for “Bottoms Up.” Diapers and coupons can be placed in the box in the hallway. Contact Jane Colwell (734-671-9446) or Susan Lowery (734-675-0417) with questions or to make a monetary donation.

🎵 🎶 🎶🎵 MUSIC NOTES 🎵🎶🎶 🎵
A Weekly Series by Daniel Susan, our Minister of Music
Our collective song is the alabaster jar of ointment that we pour on the feet of Jesus. Our song is the throne that we raise on our shoulders to lift Jesus up. It is the drink of cold water we offer a thirsty person on a hot day. When we turn on our headlights in the fog we don’t do it to see better, but so that others see us in the same way that our song together is not always just for ourselves but for others. These Christian hymns that we offer are the handrails on the stairway that often go unnoticed and unneeded until they aren’t; there is finally that day when the railing is the difference between life and death – the day we have rehearsed for, not always knowing why. The “boat drill” on shipboard to practice for the moment when the unsinkable fails us and we must rely on these preparations that have often seemed only a game – this is the hymn we sing together. If our soul, mind, and body are stocked with the singing of the Word, it will come back to comfort, to heal, to call us to confession, and to give us words and music to lift our voice in praise as well as prayer. Think on these things. Pray on these things. Sing on these things! Rinse, repeat.
