Our Chapel Doors
Did you know that the Saint James Altar Guild women raised the necessary funds through various fundraising events to duplicate the original entrance doors to the Chapel that commemorate Elizabeth “Lisette” Denison Forth? The red doors were dedicated at a special service on Sunday, June 23, 1957, and the choir from St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church in Detroit joined the choir of Saint James and sang. On her death Lisette’s generous bequeath helped build the Chapel. What a beautiful legacy, one we should be proud of, and one we should be honored to preserve. Interestingly, 1957 is the same year the cornerstone for Saint James Church was laid.
