Honor your Loved Ones on Easter by dedicating the fresh potted lilies and exultant music to beloved family members. The gold form in this morning’s bulletin is for this purpose. Also you can contact office@saintjamesgi.net to inform us of your intention and later bring a check. Names of loved ones will be printed in each Easter Bulletin. Fill out the golden bulletin inserts and return to the office TODAY.

Holy Saturday for Kids is for youngsters of any age. We meet in Galloway Hall on the Saturday before Easter at 10am for a morning of fun, including a craft, an egg hunt, a snack, and an Easter Story by Fr. Phil.
Holy Wednesday Movie On Wednesday night of Holy Week we meet in Galloway Hall at 6:15 for one more potluck and a movie. This year’s feature is the movie “Killing Jesus,” a recent National Geographic mini-series based on the best-selling book by the same name. The movie is notable for its effort to portray a Jesus who is culturally accurate and also truly human, while being the beloved Son of God. The movie will be followed by a brief discussion. Not Your Conventional Bottle Drive! St. Frances Cabrini Free Clinic located in Corktown can use your old prescription bottles. The Cabrini Free Clinic is the oldest free clinic not only in Detroit, but in the nation. Andy June will be volunteering at the clinic and will happily take the donated prescription bottles to be used in their pharmacy. Please remember to remove all labels prior to donating them. There is a donation basket set up in the hallway across from the office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andy!
Our Spring Rummage Sale is May 6 & 7. Items will be accepted beginning April 17. Please wait until then to deliver rummage items.
Coffee & Kids is a new group is being created for parents/caregivers of young children. This weekly come-if-you-can group is designed as a space for parents/caregivers to come together in fellowship and will meet at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Wyandotte during a weekday morning or afternoon. The structure will be an informal gathering where we will discuss parenting, spiritual life, and more. If there is interest we could transform into a book/bible study as well. If you are interested in joining the group, or volunteering to watch our children, please email emilie.maierhofer@gmail.com. Please indicate how many children you care for, and their ages as well as any ideas you have for the group.
The Ten-Week Preparation For Confirmation is under way for 7 students: Andrew Ador Johnson, Warren Johnson, William Johnson, Abbey McNeill, Emma Rankine, Tommy Shumate, and Hannah Thomas. Please pray for these special young people confirming their faith on April 24th.
The Bishop is Coming! Make sure to be in attendance on Sunday, April 24, for the bishop’s triennial visitation.
Games to Share? We are looking for some fun games to be used as learning tools in Sunday School. If anyone has a corn hole game, foosball, air hockey, etc. they would like to donate contact Nancy Crysler, ncrsyler@outlook.com
New Bible Studies are being offered through Saint James this Winter. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:05 in the Fireplace Room. A second weekly Bible Study runs on Thursday mornings at 10:30am in the Library. Sign up on the Bulletin Boards by the front doors or email goodnews@saintjamesgi.net.
An Open Bible Study is held every Sunday Morning in the Fireplace Room at 9:05 am. We are currently reading & discussing the Gospel of Luke a chapter at a time.
A Weekday Eucharist focused on the life of a saint is held every Wed. at 10:15am.

BOTTOMS UP DIAPER BANK
Recently the Interfaith Council was asked to join the Grosse Ile Presbyterian in implementing the “Bottoms Up” diaper program. This is an ongoing diaper bank that provides diapers to families in need. We would partner with Fish & Loaves, a local food pantry in Taylor, MI. We learned many surprising facts:
- Diapers can’t be purchased with WIC or Bridge cards.
- Parents may miss work if they can’t supply diapers at free or subsidized daycares.
- Cloth diapers can’t be washed at laundromats, for health reasons.
- Diapers for one baby can average between $60-$80 per month.
- Due to cost and lack of diapers a baby may remain in one diaper all day.
Fish & Loaves will distribute diapers to qualified, low-income families with babies and toddlers.The goal is to provides enough diapers so parents can take their babies to daycare. This would enable them to work and provide for their family.
How can you help??
- Donate diapers in the container in our hallway.
- Write a check to GIPC–notation “Bottoms Up”. (Give to Jane or Susan)
- Donate diaper coupons.
- Ask if your company is interested in being a corporate sponsor.
- Parents of young children can register for rewards at places like Huggies, Pampers, and Babies R Us.

Why do we sing? Here are words excerpted from Life Together, The Classic Exploration of Faith in Community by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
There should be singing, not only at devotions, but at regular times of the day or week. The more we sing, the more joy will we derive from it, but, above all, the more devotion and discipline and joy we put into our singing, the richer will be the blessing that will come to the whole of life of the fellowship from singing together.
It is the voice of the Church that is heard in singing together. It is not you that sings, it is the Church that is singing, and you, as a member of the Church, may share in its song. Thus all singing together that is right must serve in its song. Thus all singing together that is right must serve to widen our spiritual horizons, make us see our little company as a member of the great Christian Church on earth, and help us willingly and gladly to join our singing, be it feeble or good, to the song of the Church.
