ECLIPSE GLASSES for the April 8 Eclipse will be available at Saint James! This is so you can protect your eyes while you get out there and enjoy God’s creation. Beginning March 10 you will find certified and approved eclipse-safe glasses that are Made In America on the Resource Table. Take note: Normal sunglasses are NOT okay for viewing an eclipse. They let in 10-20% sunlight, while eclipse glasses let in 0.00032% or less and are ISO approved. We’re ordering 300 glasses, so please take them, even for extended family & neighborhood kids. We want to protect people’s eyes!
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME begins Mar 10. Spring Forward!
EASTER LILY & MUSIC MEMORIALS are now being accepted. Your gifts honor those who have died and enable us to fill the worship space with Easter Flowers and Festival Brass!
TAKE AN HOUR FOR THE ALL-NIGHT VIGIL on Maundy Thursday. This is when Jesus said, “Could you not watch with me one hour?” Sign up to spend one hour in the chapel on this holy night. Each hour has two spots. We’ll provide warmth, a lit candle, Holy Communion, and spiritual books to join you. Sign up on the sheet on the main office window.
CAN YOU SHARE A MEDITATION ON GOOD FRIDAY as part of the service? The theme of the service will be “The Seven Last Words of Christ”. You would pick one of the last words, pray about what it means to you, and then write a 500-1000 word reflection to be read aloud on Good Friday. Fr. Phil will give you tons of support. Sign up on the sheet on the main office window. Here are Jesus’ last words: 1) “Forgive them, Father! For they know not what they do.” 2) “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” 3) “Woman, here is your son…. Here is your mother.” 4) “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 5) “I thirst.” 6) “It is finished.” 7) “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”
THE SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY on the Book of Ephesians continues this morning in the Fireplace Room from 9:05-9:50am. This is a drop-in study. No prep needed, just come!
IF YOU HAVEN’T GIVEN UP COFFEE FOR LENT then you’ll be pleased to know that a Saint James Coffee Club order will be called in to CoffeeAM on Monday, March 4. If you use a single-serve pod brewer you will be interested to know that last month a Club member ordered a box of Colombia Supremo ‘La Valle Verde’ single-serve coffee pods and, after brewing her first cup, took a moment to call me to say how much she enjoyed the taste experience with the CoffeeAM coffee, even in a 8 ounce cup. Contact David Hartwell to place an order or with any questions — 313 318-9009 cell / text. FYI — Coffee Club prices are less than the retail prices on the www.coffeeam.com website.
EUCHRE NIGHT CONTINUES on Monday March 4th in Galloway Hall at 6:30pm. The $5.00 fee goes to the high score players. $0.25 per euchre so bring your quarters!
