Rummage Sale Work Days – Please come and help sort and distribute rummage from 9am until 4pm Monday, May 1 through Thursday, May 5. There is a delicious hot lunch every day. If you work 6 hours, you may bid on the items you want to buy before the actual sale. Sorry, we do not provide a babysitter, as it is not a safe place for children. No need to sign up, just come!
Our Spring Rummage Sale is May 6 & 7. Donations are now being accepted.
Rummage Cleanup – Lots of help is needed on Saturday, May 7. Even an hour of your time will be appreciated. Cleanup begins at 12 noon until about 2:30 pm. We start packing up hangers around 10:00 am. Come before noon for lunch. Older kids are always welcome.

The Heart’s Journey Through the Seasons continues this week. “Blessed are you, spring, season of hope and renewal. Looking For A Lost Coin Mark McPherson lost a silver coin from his watch chain last Sunday. It is lightweight, about the size of a half-dollar coin, with a hole in it. It’s been on Mark’s watch-chain for over 30 years and he misses it! He’s offering a reward if you find it. Call Mark at 671-5424.
Our Annual Detroit Riverboat Cruise happens Saturday, June 11th. The cruise will be catered this year, and will start with an optional Communion in the Park.

Ladies, Mark Your Calendars For The ECW Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 15 at 5PM at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club.
A Saint James’ Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 15th after church. Wear work clothes to church and bring gloves, rakes, shovels, etc. Our goal is to spruce up the grounds for the sunny months that are coming. We’ll be spreading mulch and other outdoor tasks. If you prefer to help by making a simple meal for the workers, please speak to Fr. Phil or contact us in the office.
Open Book Theatre Company, run by our secretary Krista, will soon have a new home at 1621 West Road in Trenton – Look for shows to begin there in September! The final show of this season, Calypso’s Corner, will run May 6-21, at the rented venue in Southgate. Visit openbooktc.com for more information, or just ask Krista. Join The Pastoral Care Committee to adopt a homebound parishioner, visiting them every week or two, bringing a bulletin and communion. Grosse Ile Township School District Bond Proposal Facts: On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, residents of Grosse Ile Township School District will vote on a 0.25 mill (1/4 MILL) school bond proposal. If voters approve the bond proposal, school facility funding will be the same as it was in 2015. All GITS bond proposal projects, identified on the “official” posters in Galloway Hall today, have been reviewed and approved by the Michigan Department of Treasury. GITS Bond projects fall into four basic categories:
o Improving student safety and school security
o Upgrading technology and technology infrastructure
o Replacing boilers, roofs, and other facility components
o Improving athletic facilities

Beginner’s Belly Dance Continues each Wednesday through May 18 (omitting May 4th for rummage set up) in Galloway Hall at 7pm.

Not Your Conventional Bottle Drive! St. Frances Cabrini Free Clinic located in Corktown can use your old prescription bottles. Please remember to remove all labels prior to donating them. There is a donation basket set up in the hallway.
New Group Studies are being offered through Saint James. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:05 in the Fireplace Room. A second weekly Study runs on Thursday mornings at 10:30am in the Library. Beginning and ending with centering prayer, most of the time is spent discussing the reading selection on Faith, by such authors as Thomas Aquinas, Ghandi, C. S. Lewis, Augustine of Hippo.
A Weekday Eucharist focused on the life of a saint is held every Wed. at 10:15am.
Fr. Phil’s Open Office Hours are every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm.
Coffee and Fellowship follow the 10am Service every Sunday in Galloway Hall. Volunteers are always needed. To host contact Joan Hemsworth (734-675-8191).

A Weekly Series by Daniel Susan, our Minister of Music
We will sing “Heal me, hands of Jesus” this week at the 10 am Eucharist. It is a beautiful, simple tune that carries a powerful yet easily accessible text. Written by the late English priest, Michael Perry, these words take us on a journey towards peace of heart. “Heal me, hands of Jesus. Cleanse me. Know me. Fill me”… each stanza begins with a prayer to bring peace. Finally, after confessing our fears, our bitterness, our sin and guilt, the final line confesses our faith: “Jesus brings me peace!” Note the exclamation point, it is by the hymn-writer not me. And note that it doesn’t say “Jesus brings US peace” it says ‘Jesus brings ME peace!” There is nothing wrong with praying for US to have peace, but these are personal words of prayer. It is healthy to keep a balance between songs of collective faith, and those of personal faith and this is more the latter. It also makes it a fine example of a prayer that we can take with us into daily life. Each of us needs some kind of healing whether it be in body, mind, or spirit. This hymn is not only for those who are physically ill, it is for all of us. As it is taken from the Episcopal hymnal supplement “Wonder, Love, and Praise” (bonus points: do you know where that title is from?), “Heal me, hands of Jesus” is printed in the bulletin SO YOU CAN TAKE IT HOME! (8 o’clockers: maybe you can sneak a 10 am bulletin,) Sing it. Pray it. Hymns are the people’s take home package. Place the Sunday bulletin on your bed stand and pray the words again and again, “for Jesus brings me peace!”
