 Bottoms Up Diaper Bank

 Oct 27, 2016

Dear friends of the Bottoms Up Diaper Bank:

Look what your generosity and support have done in the past year!  The Bottoms Up Diaper Bank has collected over 85,000 diapers since  our firs collection on November 29, 2015. We are supplying diapers to one hundred and fifty-nine (159) babies through Fish & Loaves Food Pantry in Taylor. Most food pantires do not provide diapers and people have been driving extra distances knowing there are diapers on the shelves at Fish and Loaves. We have been greeted with tremendous enthusiasm and gratitude every time we deliver additional diapers.  We are asking for your continued generosity, prayers and support as this important mission continues.

 Yours in Christ,

Committee for the Bottoms up Diaper Bank

🎵 🎶 🎶🎵  MUSIC NOTES  🎵🎶🎶 🎵

Choir season is up and running, and it’s never too late to join! We are doing some very exciting music this year, including some great standards by composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Rutter, exciting new pieces by composers Libby Larsen and Benjamin Wegner, and even a Bach Cantata in December, “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland” BWV 61, complete with soloists and orchestra! This is not a year you want to miss! Bell choir will also be doing some exciting work this year as well! Please let me know if you plan to attend! The St. James Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30PM, and the St. James Adult Choir rehearses Thursdays at 7:30PM. All are welcome!

Please consider joining in the music at St. James, we have lots of excellent programming this year. If you have reservations about joining that I can smooth over, or even just want to chat and learn some more about music, I’m always happy to talk! I’m easily reached at music@saintjamesgi.net.

This morning’s musical point of interest: We have some beautiful Germanic pieces being performed today, from Brahms’ Chorale Prelude to today’s anthem, and Pachelbel’s Chorale settings. I encourage you to look up the translations of these texts and give them another listen, it will enhance your experience! The translation for today’s choir anthem is as follows:

Psalm 84:5. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

Stay tuned for upcoming music events in the area:

  • Sunday Nov. 6, 3PM: “Dueling Pianists” from the Toledo Symphony Orchestra at St. Timothy’s Episcopal in Perrysburg, OH
  • Friday Nov. 11, 2PM: Barbershop Music through the Grosse Ile Musicale at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club
