There will be an informational gathering (not a commitment) on October 29th at 12:00 noon at the Grosse Ile Country Club. Wendy Kiblawi will be attending this meeting. Rejoice in the blessings that are yours. The United Thank Offering blue boxes were first imagined as a way to be especially thankful. Every time you feel blessed you can put a quarter in the box. Then, when all the “thank offerings” are collected later this year, your thanks and blessings literally become good works in the world. For examples of the good work done by the united thank offering, check out the list of 2016 UTO Grant Recipients posted on the ECW bulletin board in the hallway. The ingathering/box collection will happen in January. Our change can change lives.  Wendy Kiblawi 248-476-0265

Thank You to everyone that participated in our Fall Rummage Sale.  Our sale could not happen without every single person’s contribution from donating rummage items, to sorting the donations, setting up the tables and displays, cooking the delicious meals to feed our bodies, working during the sale days and then cleaning everything up afterwards.  There was lots of “soul food” this past week in the form of copious amounts of laughter and good hearted teasing of each other.  I would like to say thank you to each of you from the bottom of my heart.  If you were not able to join us, our next sale will be May 4-5, 2018.  There is room for everyone!!!  Peace, Sharon Metz (Rummage Sale Co-Chair

 🎵 🎶 🎶🎵  MUSIC NOTES  🎵🎶🎶 🎵

Choir and bell choir is up and running! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses at 7:30 on Thursdays.

This morning’s musical point of interest: Carl Nielson, the composer of today’s preludes, is a very under-appreciated composer from Denmark who was a prolific composer of music mostly for orchestra, voice, and chamber music. Listen to his Symphonies or Symphonic Poems! Palestrina, composer of the anthem at 10 o’clock, is an extremely famous Renaissance Italian composer who wrote almost exclusively for the Catholic Church. Palestrina wrote literally hundreds of choral pieces, all of which are excellent, and serve as prime examples of the conservative school of Renaissance counterpoint and polyphony.

Upcoming Music Events

Oct. 14, 7:30pm: Join us in the Sanctuary for our next music event. Robert Ragoonanan, Doug Scott, and Mary Hackstock will perform a joint recital on the newly refurbished and expanded Ross King organ!

Sarah Kirkland Snider. Google “BGSU New Music Festival” for details.
