Jean Teague Hascall

Sometimes events come together that need to be written.  Last January when a few of us at Church heard that Tony Hascall had passed, for those of us who had known Tony, we were very sad.  Tony’s mother was Jean Teague Hascall, a member of St. James and a well know artist.  There were two of her paintings in St. James and many of us owned our own Teague paintings.

As we learned that Tony had kept many of his Mother’s paintings and artifacts, now in possession of his son, Tony Jr., we became concerned about the future of these paintings.  A small group of us, decided we needed to get them and use the sale to benefit Jean’s surviving family and grandson. Julie Kohn put a group of us together, to maintain and eventually sell what was left for her grandson, who had patiently and gently kept these treasures. The result of this effort was the Exhibit in Galloway Hall last weekend.

On behalf of the committee I want to recognize Julie and the Committee for all of the efforts on behalf of the Hascall family. It was a true Christian endeavor and effort for those in need.

“Just Because” Program Ends: e-Giving takes its place  Just like the 150th year, our “Just Because . . .” Program is coming to an end (you know; the colorful numbered envelopes in the entryway).  The program netted over $3700 for the church.  Prizes were donated and awarded on a random basis.  Although the program comes to a close at the end of October, several prizes are left unawarded.  Those prizes will be re-purposed as follows:  Beginning November 1, anyone who sets up a new electronic giving account will be awarded one of the leftover prizes (chosen at random).  This will continue until all the prizes have been awarded.  E-Giving is easy, convenient, and it takes the worry out of planning your monetary gifts to the church.  Need help setting up e-Giving?  Contact your treasurer, Curt Crysler (treasurer@saintjamesgi.net or 734-552-4245).
