Help Prepare for the Greens Market Wednesday, Oct 29th at 11am Bring your lunch and enjoy camaraderie while we wire cones and berries for this annual ECW event!
Cones and Greens Needed We need all sizes and shapes of pine cones, which can be brought to the church now. We need branches of juniper, cedar, white & red pine, balsam, douglas fir, holly and branches of any evergreens – please cut them Thanksgiving week and then bring to the church. Sign-up to join your Trivia Night team! Since our Nov 1st , 6pm Trivia Night is a game-show-styled night, teams need to be selected in advance. We need 6 teams of 6 to pull the night off, so don’t be shy! Find Marilynn Lange or Sylvia Booth after the service to sign up. 18 and older, please. Five dollars is asked of participants, and will go towards prizes. Bring a dish to share, and we’ll fire up the game after the meal.

Parish bonfire Friday, November 7th The Men’s Ministry Group will be hosting the annual Parish Bonfire on Friday, Nov 7th, 7pm-9pm. Bring snacks and a beverage of your choice. Entertainment will be provided.

A Call for New Vestry members Each fall we choose a group of church members to meet monthly to guide the vision, maintenance and ministry of our church. A strong vestry includes people from every background, age, gender and skill set. If you are willing to help, or to nominate someone else, contact Andrew Johnson or Fr. Phil.
Help Us fill Toiletry Bags for the Homeless Donations can be placed in the marked box across from the office. Most needed items include: combs, toothpaste (travel size), toothbrushes, wash clothes, razors, shaving cream (travel size) and deodorant (travel size). Fr. Phil’s Open Office Hours are every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm. These are open drop-in hours, so you do not need an appointment.

Christnet needs your help
Christnet, a warming shelter, is coming to Grosse Ile from Sunday, Nov. 16th through Nov. 23rd. Approximately 30 homeless people will be served dinner and breakfast. The Grosse Ile Presbyterian church will be housing our guests. Through Interfaith Council every island church hosts the event for one night. This year St. James’ is responsible for Monday night, Nov. 17th.
Volunteers are needed on:
Sunday, November 16th at approximately noon to help set up at the Presbyterian church
Monday, November 17th
– From 7 p.m. -12 p.m. to receive and assist guests, serve dinner, cleanup and staff the warming center.
-From 11:30 p.m. – 4 a.m. to staff the warming center, and prepare lunches for guests to be distributed after breakfast.
-From 3:30 a.m.- 8 a.m. to staff warming center, awaken guests, serve breakfast, distribute lunches, cleanup, wash towels.
-Provide dessert for dinner.
Sunday, November 23rd at 6:30 a.m. to help tear down, pack up, clean or go to the Laundromat to wash bedding. The more who volunteer the quicker the work is done.
We invite you to join us. Please sign up at the Inter-Faith Council Bulletin Board in the hall or call Sue Lowery (675-0417)/Jane (671-9446). Also we ask for your prayers this week for our guests and those of us who volunteer in this ministry.

THANKS+GIVING FUN RUN
Saint James’ is hosting our 1st ANNUAL THANKS+GIVING FUN RUN! Join us on Thanksgiving morning for an 8:30am Kid’s Dash, and/or a 9:00am 5K. Run it or walk it, it’s fun for the whole family! Entry fees are free-will donations to support local families through Saint James’ ministries, the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, and the Spirit of Hope Soup Kitchen. All donations are tax deductible. We need your help to make this event a success. Tell your friends and volunteer!
