Are You Enrolled In Kroger Community Rewards?   Last year Saint James had 74 households enrolled in the Community Rewards program, bringing several thousand dollars into the church budget. The August statement said we had 58 households in the program. Please check your Kroger receipt.  If it does not say “Saint James Episcopal Church” at the bottom, you are not enrolled.   Go to www.krogercommunityrewards.com and follow the enrollment instructions.  It only takes a couple minutes.  Our group number is #82842.  This simple program helps raise money for our ministries here at Saint James.  Thank you.

The Rich History Of The Bicycle will be the topic for the day on Sunday, September 20 at the Old Spokes Home of Grosse Ile – the building of bicycles at 8802 Macomb Street. Come and see between 9 am to 4 pm.  The owner is coordinating the opening to coincide with the Tour de Ile Bicycle Ride (www.tourdeile.com) being organized and hosted by the Rotary Club of Grosse Ile.

The Little Blue Boxes  on the resource table across from the office are for the UTO, the “United Thank Offering” founded in 1889. Each year all the monies gathered are given away in the form of grants to meet compelling human need and support the mission and ministry of the church locally and worldwide.  The fall ingathering (box collection) will take place in November. In gratitude for God’s grace, let’s give generously- your change can change lives.  Thank you, Wendy Kiblawi

40 Women of the Bible

DIOCESAN EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN RETREAT

January 21-23, 2016, at Columbiere Center, Clarkston, MI.

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”  Proverbs 31:26

How can we as modern women connect our faith and lives with Biblical women of ancient times? It is our hope that each of us on this Spiritual Journey will be able to identify with one or more of the women presented and find within her story… our story! Traditionally, scriptural women have often been neglected. We will meet some familiar women in new ways and perhaps meet new women who have remained hidden to us. As we become aware, we will find that God has empowered women to teach and lead and make a difference in the history of God’s people. So — “taste and see” that the tales of these women are good — not all sweet but good, and good for us and for all those who hunger to hear!

Double Room Rate:$165.00, Single Room Rate $185.00. Columbiere Retreat House encourages registration by October 16 by contacting Jane Johnson at RJLJJ@aol.com or 248-559-9788. For Conference information, contact Beth LeClair at leclair143@wowway.com or 248-852-0942.
