A HOLY MOMENT OF THE WEEK
Send yours to goodnews@saintjamesgi.net The Choir singing God’s praises during the outdoor ChurchFest Service. |
One-on-One Prayer is available every Sunday during communion at the 10AM service and by request from Fr. Phil following the 8AM service. During the 10AM service Prayer Team members are stationed at either side of the altar rail. After you receive the bread and wine ask a prayer team member and they will offer a prayer on your behalf for any need or thanksgiving. To join the Prayer Team speak with Fr. Phil or a prayer team member.
The Inaugural Lisette Classic Golf Outing was a great success! The liquid sunshine couldn’t keep us down, the Country Club was terrific, and the banquet was delicious. Funds raised for the chapel are still being counted, but the final donation will be significant. Thank you to everyone who helped through word or deed. Here’s to our continuing celebration of 150 Years in this community!
The 150th Anniversary Logo is now available for use! Open the link below, “right click” on the image, and save it to your hard drive. The logo is perfect for all announcements, flyers, T-shirts, posters, and any correspondence you have this year. http://saintjamesgi.net/Downloads/150-logo.png
A Parish bonfire will be hosted by the men’s ministry group on Friday, November 3. You’re welcome to bring a snack to pass and a beverage of your choice and maybe an extra log to throw on the flyer! The festivities begin at 7 PM.
The United Thank Offering (UTO) has been an important ministry of the Episcopal Church since1889, providing a way for members of all ages to give daily thanks to God. The mission of UTO is to distribute funds through grants to individuals and communities in need of financial support in our diocese, our nation and the world. Everyone is encouraged to take home a “little blue box”. Kept in a prominent place, it is a reminder to say a prayer of thanks and drop in coins in gratitude for God’s blessings. Boxes are available across from the office, in Galloway hall and outside the chapel. Your change can change lives. Thank you! Wendy Kiblawi 248-476-0265

🎵 🎶 🎶🎵 MUSIC NOTES 🎵🎶🎶 🎵
Choir and bell choir is up and running! Please consider joining, all are welcome and it is a fun and exciting environment to sing, ring, and explore the rich history of church music. Bell Choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:30, and Vocal Choir rehearses at 7:30 on Thursdays.
This morning’s musical point of interest: We have a short, low-key piece by a very important composer this morning. The first is Nadia Boulanger, the master from France. She was one of the most influential composers of the 20th century, not just by the strength of her own music, but that she was regarded as THE composer to study with during her lifetime, and greatly influenced her students Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, David Diamond, Karel Husa, Walter Piston, and John Eliot Gardiner, among others.
Upcoming Music Events
September 30, 6:45pm, Sacred Heart Church, Grosse Ile: Mary Hackstock and Laura Reynolds Carmichael perform a benefit concert for Hurricane Victims, performing piano duo works by Schubert, Grieg, Debussy, and more!
Oct. 14, 7:30pm: Join us in the Sanctuary for our next music event. Robert Ragoonanan, Doug Scott, and Mary Hackstock will perform a joint recital on the newly refurbished and expanded Ross King organ!
