ANNOUNCEMENTS
ADVENT EVENING PRAYER — Slow down in the Advent Season and key-in to a daily habit of reflective prayer at the close of day. Zoom in at 9pm every night in Advent for some peace and quiet. Come a few minutes early if you want to be social, as we will begin right at 9. Zoom
SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE — Join a virtual kaffeeklatsch on Sunday mornings any time between 10am & 10:45. Zoom
THE ANGEL TREE is back up and running this year! We have received only a few names for recipients, but we are still hoping that a few parishioners might be able to help buy a Christmas present for a child in need. To help spread Christmas cheer, please message Natalia Baker at Nataliamorris130@gmail.com, via Facebook Messenger, or by phone 908-656-0915.
OUR PRAYER LIST is starting up again. Send your requests to goodnews@saintjamesgi.net after receiving the person’s permission to add their name. Names remain on the prayer list for a period of four weeks to ensure it remains up to date.
OUR MIDWEEK EUCHARIST continues by Zoom at 10:15a on Wednesday mornings.
THE CHURCH OFFICE is open on Wednesdays for essential business during this time of increased carefulness. As needed, you can also call or text Fr. Phil at 734-775-7140.
KIDS “ADVENTURES IN THE BIBLE” — Every Sunday in Advent at 9:15am — Join our Children’s Ministries Director, Erica Benson, for a live kids program every Sunday morning in Advent. Light the Advent Candle on the wreath! Sing special songs! And, of course, there will be greetings, best things, and silly faces! Zoom
A CHRISTMAS PARTY/MINGLE — Wednesday, December 16, from 8pm to 9pm — Mark your calendars to pop into Zoom between 8pm and 9pm on December 16th to share some Christmas cheer with Fr. Phil and one another. The Christmas Mingle will conclude with a special candlelit evening prayer service broadcast from the chapel, led by Fr. Phil. With special music! Zoom
COOKIES FOR INCARCERATED YOUTH — Coordinated by Sue Anderson — Help remind a child they are a child of God and precious by sending a gift of love — homemade cookies withOUT nuts. Reach out to Sue Anderson at sues389@yahoo.com or (734) 558-7106 to get more information on when and where to drop off cookies. This year the boys from the Methodist Children’s Home Society will be included in the distribution. These are foster cases and abused and neglected youth. Thank you for your cookie love!
MOVIE NIGHT: “THE NATIVITY STORY” PG — Wednesday, December 23, at 7pm — If you haven’t seen “The Nativity Story,” you’re in for a treat! This Christmas movie is a delight, with wonderful performances for Mary and Joseph and a fittingly dastardly Herod. If you’re using a Tablet you may want to find the headphones to get the best audio experience. We’ll watch the movie together through Zoom with a brief intermission halfway through for popcorn! Zoom
“CHRISTMAS STORIES” BIBLE STUDY — Wednesday, December 9, 7:30pm — In this open Bible Study, we will look at each Gospel’s Christmas story, reading and wondering aloud. Led by Fr. Phil this study will end in time for the day’s Advent Night Blessing and Prayer. Zoom
FR. PHIL OPEN ZOOM HOURS — Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm — Call or Zoom Fr. Phil any Tuesday evening in December. Your “hello” can be 30 seconds or as long as you want. Make your priest’s day: Drop in (virtually) or call and say Hi to Fr. Phil. Zoom
SUNDAY LiveCHURCH! SERVICES — On YouTube and SaintJamesGI.net — Throughout Advent we will continue to offer Sunday services on our YouTube channel, Facebook, email, and our Saint James website. Look for a guest sermon from Bishop Bonnie before long! YouTube
SUNDAY FOR KIDS! — On YouTube and SaintJamesGI.net — Every Sunday we’ll have a new program especially for kids available on all our media platforms. They’re guaranteed to be short, fun, deep, and holy. Some adults say they like them as much as the kids do! YouTube
“LETTERS FROM A SKEPTIC” BOOK STUDY — Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 3pm — This book explores faith from the perspective of the mind as well as the heart. Why do we believe? What are the reasons underlying our faith? Dr. Boyd writes and receives letters from his father asking and answering every question about Christianity that you can imagine. Send Fr. Phil a quick email or text and he’ll let you know what chapters we’re reading this week! Zoom
DELICIOUS DINNERS FOR COVID SUFFERERS — Remember to feed the sick — If you learn that a friend or neighbor has COVID, reach out to them and let them know you’re bringing over a meal. COVID fatigue is real. It can be hard to sit up on a couch. Your dinner will be one less thing they have to worry about. These Delicious Dinners are not coordinated by the church, but by you, so when you see a need, help fill it!
