EXPLORING GOD’S WORD

ANNOUNCEMENTS

SUNDAY CONNECTION meets every Sunday at 10am for the public premier of the week’s worship service, led by Fr. Phil. On Sunday at 9:50am the Zoom room opens. At 10:03 Fr. Phil will launch the worship service, which we will share together. Afterwards we’ll break out into rooms of 4-6 people for 15 minutes of catching up. Then Fr. Phil will send us out with a blessing. To join the Sunday Connection click on the prominent Zoom link on the Saint James webpage SAINTJAMESGI.NET or click this link TINYURL.COM/SJGI-ZOOM on Sunday morning.

THE 2020 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PARISH is available for download: TINYURL.COM/497ZJ27F

FR. PHIL ANNOUNCED NEW PROGRAMS for 2021 at last week’s annual meeting. Check them out below. The universal goal is to help us reconnect with each other, even as this virus tries to keep us distant. Fr. Phil asks that we all participate in at least two of these 10 offerings, and up to as many as are possible for you. When we gather in Jesus’ name we’re never alone!

PRAYER PARTNERS reach out to each other once a week to pray a short form of Evening Prayer and read the scriptures for the up-coming Sunday. The prayer and readings are provided. Prayer Partners will be connected to each other as names are received. Sign-up’s begin Wednesday, February 10, through our website — SAINTJAMESGI.NET

PENPALS write each other once a week and pray for each other. We are especially looking for people to write a child in the congregation once a week, but you can also request an adult if you’d like. Reach out to our Children’s Ministries Director, Erica Benson, <ericabenson101@gmail.com> or sign-up through our website beginning on Wednesday, February 10 at SAINTJAMESGI.NET

MEET IN SANITY GROUPS of 3-5 people to connect once a week for half an hour. Sanity groups will: 1) Catch up (What’s on your mind lately?), 2) Check-in (How are you and yours?), and 3) Share your closest moment to Christ in the past week (When have you felt closest to God?). When you sign up you can mention 2 or 3 other individuals or couples who you would like in your group. We’ll do our best to honor all requests! Sign-up’s begin Wednesday, February 10, through our website — SAINTJAMESGI.NET

NIGHTLY PRAYER ON FACEBOOK LIVE begins in Lent. Every night at 8pm you can join a short service of meditative prayer. The service of Compline is ancient and beautiful. Look for it on the Saint James Facebook page every night in Lent at 8pm.  People say it helps them sleep better when they read Compline before bed.

AUDI-BIBLE: CHAPTER-A-DAY SCRIPTURE READINGS will be posted every morning in Lent on Facebook and YouTube. During the Lenten season, Fr. Phil will be reading several whole books of the Bible at a “chapter-a-day” pace, beginning with the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians. Get your daily dose of scripture in Lent, plus the pleasure of having someone read aloud to you. You are encouraged to listen daily, comment, and share!

YOUTUBE SUNDAY SERVICES will be offered as long as this infernal virus endures. Services are posted every Sunday morning. Find them through the Saint James website at SaintJamesGI.net through the prominent “YouTube Services” link, or find them directly on YouTube here https://www.youtube.com/user/saintjamesgi/videos

SHROVE TUESDAY CHARADES will be held on Tuesday, February 16th, at 7pm on Zoom. Participants will be divided into groups for three rounds of Bible Charades, with teams mixing up before each round. The goal is fun and conversation, but you may also want to win!

THE GREAT ST. JAMES TALENT SHOW will be held at 5pm on Saturday, March 14th, right in the middle of Lent. We hope for 8-10 acts, but we need you to make it happen! Magic tricks, comedy, music, and more are all welcome. Children are especially welcome, even for short and simple acts. Don’t miss this well-needed break in the Lenten season. Sign-up’s begin Wednesday, February 10, through our website — SAINTJAMESGI.NET

A CHECKERS TOURNAMENT will be held during the week of April 19th. Everyone who signs up will play a best-of-three Checkers game through the week with your assigned challenger. The final games will be shown LIVE on Zoom on Saturday, April 24, at 5pm. The goal is to be social during the games, but you’ll also want to advance to the next round. Who will be “Kinged” as the Checkers Champion of 2021? Sign-up’s begin Wednesday, February 10, through our website — SAINTJAMESGI.NET

PEN PALS NEEDED!  This Lent the Children’s Ministry would like to pair adult parishioners with one of children. We are asking two things from our adult penpals 1.) that they pray daily for their assigned child and 2.) that they send a card in the mail once a week for every week in Lent. If you are an adult that is interested in supporting one of our kids in this way, email Erica Benson at ericabenson101@gmail.com

LIVE WORSHIP WEDNESDAYS continue every Wednesday morning at 10:15am on Zoom. In the services we catch-up with each other, hear the story of a Saint from history, pray, and then break to go on about our days. Join on Zoom by clicking here: TINYURL.COM/SJGI-ZOOM

David welcomes you to visit www.coffeeam.com and take a look around.  If you see something you would like to order, just let David Hartwell know by noon on Monday at 313-318-9009 by call or text. LIMESCALE IN YOUR COFFEE MACHINE? Our Coffee Coordinator, David Hartwell says, “Kate and I bought the large size of the coffee products Urnex Dezcal, and Urnex Cafiza so that we could not only use them in our drip coffeemaker but also offer samples to coffee club members. If they’re recommended as safe to use in your drip coffeemaker or espresso machine just let me know and I’ll get you a free sample of Urnex Dezcal to eliminate limescale in your drip coffeemaker, or Urnex Cafiza to help you clean your drip coffeemaker or espresso machine, or a sample of each. On another coffee topic — you’ll be pleased to know that Kate and I won’t be suffering from static cling any more!!!  Take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAgWc-RW8XU ” Stay safe, and healthy, David Hartwell  313 318-9009 cell/text
