ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY IS TRINITY SUNDAY!
Join us at 8am in the chapel or 10am outside. Today’s pre-recorded service can be found here: http://youtube.com/c/saintjamesgi

WE’RE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!  Starting this week:

  1. Masks indoors continue to be required in all circumstances, but
  2. Masks outdoors are not required!
  3. Social distancing in & out remains in effect.
  4. For Holy Communion, we are inviting everyone forward to receive the consecrated bread. We’re not yet allowed to share the consecrated wine. Fr. Phil will bring communion to you at your seat, if you prefer. Also, touchless blessings are always an option.
  5. Singing is allowed at all services! When indoors we will sing through our masks. When outdoors we will sing mask-free.
  6. Greetings at “The Peace” continue to be touchless.
  7. Coffee Hour and receptions can resume.
    1. Coffee and other beverages may be served, but only from closed carafes.
    2. No potlucks or openly shared foods are allowed at this time,
    3. Individually pre-wrapped food may be shared.
    4. People may also choose to bring their own food to meetings or other gatherings.

In addition to the above, our office is now open for normal hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (9a-3p). Fr. Phil is  available for appointments and pastoral care visits any time. 10am services are being held outdoors through September. Church committees, groups, and ministries have begun meeting in-person outside and even inside if small or *especially* careful. Look for more steps in the weeks and months to come!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HYMNS? We’d like to make sure to play them in the coming weeks. Let us know your favorites by sending an email to goodnews@saintjamesgi.net

OUR “UNITED THANK OFFERING” IN-GATHERING continues today, May 30th. Please turn in your blue boxes or use the available UTO envelopes for donations of cash or checks made out to ‘St. James ECW’ with UTO in the memo line.  100% of the funds collected are used to provide grants both domestically and abroad to help alleviate profound human suffering. UTO is an outreach of the Episcopal Church that encourages us to deposit change in our ‘blue box’ year round as we give thanks for all of our blessings.  For more information check out www.episcopalchurch.org/uto  Thanks! Wendy Kiblawi wendykiblawi@yahoo.com

BOOK GROUP IS STARTING UP AGAIN – Our book is “Learning to Walk in the Dark” by Barbara Brown Taylor, an Episocopal priest named one of the ten best preachers in the English language. Led by Erica Benson, we’ll be meeting in the Saint James library, or better yet OUTSIDE as weather permits,  beginning Tuesday, June 1st, at 10:00am. We’ll be glad to have you “Zoom in” if you prefer. Contact Erica with any questions, or if you want to be part of a group order for the book: ericabenson101@gmail.com & (231) 690-9655. “In Learning to Walk in the Dark, Taylor asks us to put aside our fears and anxieties and to explore all that God has to teach us “in the dark.”  Through darkness we find courage, we understand the world in new ways, and we feel God’s presence around us, guiding us through things seen and unseen. Often, it is while we are in the dark that we grow the most.”
